Re: Would you like to see the power return?
He’s still a top 5 player.
I think a more interesting question is, would he have had more success in the last 5 years if he he didn’t move to target, cause it seemed like they could never match unicorn in producing a dart he was completely happy with.

I agree he was never the same player when he moved to target. He seemed a lot more accurate when he used his unicorn darts.

Re: Would you like to see the power return?
It’s easy to forget when he moved to Target, he was at the top of his game. But for some reason in the early months they couldn’t get the dart right. I recall especially they had trouble getting the dart to drop down at the -5 degree angle he always hit with. Was it not the stems (he used to use slick sticks)? They resolved in the end.MancheStar wrote:I agree he was never the same player when he moved to target. He seemed a lot more accurate when he used his unicorn darts.
In my opinion only.. this allowed other players to build confidence whilst they worked on the dart and taking some beatings in that period knocked his confidence. He was never the same, despite the dart issues being resolved.

That's just an excuse for getting old. I think he did a pretty good job of maintaining his standard over the many years he played.
"What a Fecking Catastrophe!!"
Re: Would you like to see the power return?
Think he was no. 4 in the world when he retired, can’t say that about many sportsmen. Pretty sure if he wanted to he could come back and still occupy 1,2,3 in the rankings. But he doesn’t want to put the work in on the practice board anymore and don’t think he’d be happy doing a Steve Davis, floating round in the rankings.

In my opinion, the one thing Taylor never lacked was confidence, even at the end.ChrisB wrote:It’s easy to forget when he moved to Target, he was at the top of his game. You're right about him not being the same player towards the end, even once he was happy with his equipment, but I wouldn't put that down to lack of confidence.
I think it was more than his age was finally catching up with him. He simply wasn't as good as he used to be any more. He'd still back himself to beat everyone else though.
Re: Would you like to see the power return?
Would be literally the funniest thing ever in darts if Taylor came back then became world champion just to show he was the difference. Winning the matchlay and getting to the world final last year came pretty close mind
Re: Would you like to see the power return?
Would be interesting. But don't see it happening.
Re: Would you like to see the power return?
Only Taylor could come back after a couple of years and win the world title, don't like the guy but his determination and work ethic is second to none. If he feels the hunger he'll do it.DavidB wrote:Would be literally the funniest thing ever in darts if Taylor came back then became world champion just to show he was the difference. Indeed just like Ronnie did in snooker.
Re: Would you like to see the power return?
No. Guy gets on my nerves.
Game doesn't need him. It seems a long time ago when folks worried about a non Taylor PDC.
was he missed at the matchplay? Nope.

But it would be a tad embasassing when he wins Lakeside.Moongoose McQueeen wrote:Would give us a much needed shot in the arm.Moongoose McQueeen wrote:I'd like him to return to the BDO

Why? He'd still be top 5 in PDC if he returned.nikkiboy wrote:But it would be a tad embasassing when he wins Lakeside.Moongoose McQueeen wrote:Would give us a much needed shot in the arm.Moongoose McQueeen wrote:I'd like him to return to the BDO

If it keeps him out of the commentary booth, yes.
