What led to the Winmau binning the BDO off?

Post by MancheStar »

Guys think I missed this why have winmau binned the bdo off? What led to this? What was the final straw? Where does this leave the masters?

Costs vs benefit I guess. The benefits were slowly disappearing.

I read the ex board not signing a new contract that was offered to them 6 months prior. I read it off some Scottish guy who is associated to Winmau.

It’s nothing new that the Ex board did not communicate.

Are Unicorn tied to PDC or is there scope for taking Winmaus charity work in the amateur game over? Suppose Target or Nodor may fancy it but without any real profit made from sponsoring BDO darts it's a case of who would want in?

Sounds like the old board have sabotaged the future of the masters in a bit of a dirty protest on the way out. Wonder if uncle Barry would be interested in the oldest major in darts the world masters. The masters has always been known as the winmau like the bdo worlds has always been known as lakeside. Plus be nice to see the pdc players in a different format.

Indeed. However best of three leg sets are utterly rubbish.

Usually go as far as the BDO is concerned...

There is no way that Barry Hearn would be interested in taking over the Masters...why would he ?..

I don't see Winmau going as the end of the Masters though..I hope not...they didn't sponsor it as such and it's a great opportunity to get Winmau back with a better deal or deal with other companies...could be a good fresh start for the new board

It's gash. Gives nobody time to get into a set, something only being on telly once a year doesn't make it "exciting" by default you know.

Those of us of a certain age do anyway Sally :)

Winmau walking away from the masters is something I though I'd never see and a sad indictment of the mismanagement of the BDO who seemed to use Winmau as the guys who always picked up the slack when they lost or failed to get another sponsor.

Considering you don't even play darts, How on earth would you know what a good format was or is?
