I get what you mean, the delayed coverage and the fact that it doesn't matter as much as the 9 or so TV majors are both factors of course. Doesn't mean to say we haven't had some explosive, high-quality contests, and so many different winners is only a good thing for the game. Lots of the Oceanic qualifiers have done themselves proud too - Raymond Smith, Damon Heta & Mark McGrath all picking up upset wins, while Heta, Ben Robb & John Hurring all forced deciding legs in three of their games.

It is necessary & important to visit USA, Asia & Australasia, doesn't mean we have to watch all the coverage!

Did MVG do the same today then? Losing seven straight legs as Rob Cross comes back superbly to claim the title?

Wow. You have really taken my criticism of your hero the other week to heart haven't you? :D

In summary though: yes, MvG shat himself just like Whitlock did. Hope this helps.

That's me just finished watching the final, having put the final day Sky+.

Whilst the WSOD is really an exhibition event, for me, it it is a hugely important one in both showcasing the PDC, and developing the overseas markets.

Also for those who espouse the same players/winners bullshit, Rob Cross is the 6th different winner in the 6 WSOD tournaments so far.

Why would a darts player be walking with two coppers leaving a venue?

Well at least you're consistent. Albeit in my view, consistently wrong. Today Cross too good for van Gerwen.

According to the other report he was escorted away to defuse a situation. Cops with him to stop folks giving him verbal abuse..

If he was having a fist fight with fans surely no one will cover that up.

ROD HARRINGTON has praised the impact of the World Series of Darts after another terrific year of events continued the growth of darts around the globe.

A highly competitive tour saw six different champions crowned at six tournaments played in five countries, while regional representatives enjoyed their best year ever.

Dawson Murschell, Royden Lam, Mark McGrath, Damon Heta, Raymond Smith and Corey Cadby all recorded memorable wins over the PDC's top stars, and Harrington believes this is just the start of the sport's global expansion.

They're not scared of the likes of Michael van Gerwen anymore

"The set-up that the PDC has got worldwide now is going to breed better and better players," said Harrington.

"That's exactly what's happening, they're not scared of the likes of Michael van Gerwen anymore.

"They get up and they are playing that dartboard on the big stage. It goes back to the systems in place on our youth tour, our Challenge Tour and our ProTour."

Rob Cross' 11-6 victory over Van Gerwen in Brisbane last weekend ensured a different winner at every event for the first time on the World Series since the opening two events in 2013.

The win was Cross' first on television since being crowned World Champion in January and was another reminder of the Hastings thrower's meteoric rise since taking his first steps on the PDC circuit as an amateur little over two years ago.

"Having six different winners is testament to the PDC circuit - it's breeding really tough players that can play at the top on the big stage," Harrington added.

"For the last 18 months Van Gerwen has started to dominate, but now he's not which makes it better for the game.

"He'll come back, we know that. He played really well in Auckland but in Melbourne and Brisbane he certainly wasn't on his A-game.

"When people got in front of him he didn't have that extra gear to get back, and when he did get in front at times he was letting people back in the game. That's not Van Gerwen."

The World Series of Darts Finals will be held from November 2-4 at the Multiversum in Schwechat, Vienna, Austria. For tickets, visit the PDC Europe website.

Saw this posted on Twitter by statistician Carl Fletcher.

Overview of the #WSOD tournament 3DA. It shows the overall 3DA per World Series event, for the 8 PDC players & local qualifiers & the differences between them. The 8 PDC players combined lowest 3DA was at the NZ event. The closeness to the Matchplay probably significant.

THE 2018 bwin World Series of Darts Finals will feature the six winners of this year's global events alongside players from around the world and four qualifiers.

Vienna's Multiversum will host the World Series of Darts Finals from November 2-4 as a 24-player field competes for a £250,000 prize fund.

The top eight players from the World Series Order of Merit following the year's six global events qualify by right.

That means reigning champion Michael van Gerwen - a winner in Auckland this year - qualifies alongside fellow 2018 champions Peter Wright, Rob Cross, Gary Anderson, Michael Smith and Mensur Suljovic.

In addition, Raymond van Barneveld and Simon Whitlock also qualify from the World Series Order of Merit.

The top four non-qualified players from the PDC Order of Merit following October's World Grand Prix will also compete in Vienna, alongside a further eight invited players from the World Series Order of Merit.

The final four places in the 24-player field will be taken by players in the PDC Tour Card Holders' Qualifier in Barnsley on Friday October 19.

"The World Series of Darts tour was more open than ever in 2018 with six different winners from our worldwide events, and our end-of-season Finals promises to be a fabulous weekend," said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.

"Alongside the great competition between the sport's top players, we've seen a continued improvement in the standard of our regional representatives in North America, Asia, New Zealand and Australia.

"It will be fantastic to see them given a further opportunity in Vienna in November for what promises to be a festival of darts showcasing the ever-increasing global talent."

Dutch star Van Gerwen has won the World Series of Darts Finals for the past three years, defeating Peter Wright twice ahead of his 2017 triumph over Gary Anderson.

Dutch Darts Championship winner Ian White has joined Daryl Gurney, Dave Chisnall and James Wade as provisional qualifiers from the PDC Order of Merit following his European Tour success on Sunday.

Those places will be finalised following next month's World Grand Prix, giving other players the chance to move themselves up the main PDC Order of Merit standings.

The invited players from the World Series Order of Merit are set to include Belgian ace Dimitri Van den Bergh, who was May's German Darts Masters runner-up, and Australian aces Kyle Anderson, Corey Cadby, Damon Heta and Raymond Smith.

Welsh duo Gerwyn Price and Jamie Lewis and Canadian youngster Dawson Murschell are also in line to compete in Vienna based on current standings.

Tickets for the bwin World Series of Darts Finals are available via www.pdc-europe.tv/tickets.

The bwin World Series of Darts Finals will be broadcast live on ITV4, as well as worldwide through the PDC's international broadcast partners.

Don’t know if Cadby would be invited from the PDC rather than the DPA but this is on the DPA website

The PDC have confirmed overnight official invites for Damon Heta and Raymond Smith at the World Series finals in Vienna 3 days after the Oceanic Masters

The pair will depart Wednesday for Austria and play Friday evening local time

Congratulations to two of Australia's best on this great achievement

THE 2018 bwin World Series of Darts Finals field has now been confirmed and will feature the six winners of this year's global events alongside players from around the world and four qualifiers.

Vienna's Multiversum will host the World Series of Darts Finals from November 2-4 as a 24-player field competes for a £250,000 prize fund, live on ITV4 and worldwide through the PDC’s international broadcast partners.

The top eight players from the World Series Order of Merit following the year's six global events qualify by right and are seeded through to the second round.

The top four non-qualified players from the PDC Order of Merit will also compete in Vienna, and are Daryl Gurney, Dave Chisnall, Ian White and Gerwyn Price.

Eight players have been invited to compete based on their World Series of Darts Order of Merit ranking, headed by James Wade and German Darts Masters finalist Dimitri van den Bergh.

Also among the eight invited players are Australians Kyle Anderson, Damon Heta and Raymond Smith, World Championship semi-finalist Jamie Lewis and Canadian youngster Dawson Murschell.

Corey Cadby was set to compete as one of the eight invited players but withdrawn after being a passenger in a car accident which broke his left arm.

The Australian has decided against long-haul travel to Vienna and has been replaced by Hong Kong's Royden Lam, who was next in line for a place in Austria ahead of Mark McGrath and Tim Pusey based on PDC Order of Merit ranking.

The final four places in the 24-player field will be taken by players in the PDC Tour Card Holders' Qualifier in Barnsley on Friday October 19.

Tickets for the bwin World Series of Darts Finals are available via www.pdc-europe.tv/tickets.
