So what if a tour card holder doesn’t go?

Decent move anyway

I assume they would invite an extra person from the Challenge Tour.

Adds more value to the Tour Card as well, guaranteed entry into a TV event (Yes you may not get on TV but you know what I mean)

Down side is that the players are seeded into the event from the oom rather than the UK open oom that often through up a couple of surprises

So the top 32 PDC OOM (MVG Andersen etc.) still come in at the last 64 stage?

Dunno who Andersen is, perhaps some up and coming Swedish player, but I imagine whatever exemption happens now will still happen in March, just using the main merit list.

Eight events remain to be played across two weekends on the 2018 Challenge Tour circuit on September 8-9 and November 10-11, with the top two players from the final Order of Merit claiming a PDC Tour Card.

Following the 2019 PDC Qualifying School, the next 16 ranked non-Tour Card Holders from the final 2018 Challenge Tour Order of Merit will be invited to compete in the UK Open.

So the early rounds will look like this I think :

RD1 97-128, + 32
RD2 65-96, + 32
RD 3 33-64, + 32 £1000
RD 4 1-32, + 32 £2000
Rd 5 32
