It is what the grass roots of darts side needs.
A grass roots player coming over from the Dev/CT Tour and going for their big title the 'World Pro Championship'.

If Durrant had of won it then there would be cries of 'Oh but he only had to win a handful of matches' ASN started from the first round and went all the way to the final and won it, Can be no argument there and a great achievement for the man.

Would have been trolled by the usuals suspects with any result.
I think it is a good story for the BDO. I hope they use it properly.

Certainly in today's matches I think there was an element of the top BDO players not knowing what to really expect from ASN, But in saying that, Any player that goes right through the field to the last 8 and played more matches than those he would face has to be a massive danger.

Good news for the BDO but bad news for the "core top few players" as it will encourage even more to try to take the big BDO paydays as long as they still exist of course.

Someone is copying from our scores :)
I admit I copied scores from dartsforwindows. Seems a reliable source isn't it?

@TheRedBit180 had some averages as well when the BDO had not. We have embed him in the tweets. ;)

Genuine question: How will this result create additional interest in the BDO? I know theoretically a result like this should, but the reality is much different. When I mentioned it in my local last night, no-one knew the event had even been taking place, let alone knew (or cared) who won, or what the winners back story was. The only darts this week they were aware of was the Grand Prix.

In order for an achievement such as this to increase the BDO profile, the event it self has to be in the public consciousness already, and it sadly isn't.

The nearest thing this will get to giving the BDO a lift is if this gets him into the GSOD, when the commentators will presumably give the details of his achievement, and the vast majority of the viewing public will go "oh, that's nice" then promptly forget about him the minute the group stages are over.

I gave up long ago trying to work out what the qualifying criteria for the BDO places is, which is why I said "if"

Therefore all the furore on here over his win because he's supposedly a PDC player (although never had a tour card) is quite funny wouldn't you agree as the general public apparently don't care??

Definitely, but generally speaking, what goes on here bears absolutely no relation to what goes on in the wider world, and you could make that argument about pretty much everything we talk about on here.
We're just a bunch of darts obsessives with a penchant for winding each other up.
If anyone thinks anything that goes on here is of any relevance to real life whatsoever, they're an idiot in my opinion.
