Re: Road to BDO World Championships 2019
Im sure I seen somewhere last year that the nine darter prize money was 52k and was in some way insured incase it was hit, To drop it from 52k to just 1k is ridiculous considering it has not been hit in how many years at Lakeside?DavidOwen67 wrote:£1000 prize for the "first" nine-darter

It means they either couldn't get insured or it was too expensive to insure against and a £1000 is alot cheaper than the insurance company wanted.daveboygreen wrote:Im sure I seen somewhere last year that the nine darter prize money was 52k and was in some way insured incase it was hit, To drop it from 52k to just 1k is ridiculous considering it has not been hit in how many years at Lakeside?DavidOwen67 wrote:£1000 prize for the "first" nine-darter
Given that the field includes now includes to ex top 10 PDC players one who has hit a 9 darter on TV would surely have scared any insurance company.

Re: Road to BDO World Championships 2019
52k won't have helped. The last thing someone going for a 9-darter in the BDO needs is knowing that there's a substantial amount of money to be won.daveboygreen wrote:Im sure I seen somewhere last year that the nine darter prize money was 52k and was in some way insured incase it was hit, To drop it from 52k to just 1k is ridiculous considering it has not been hit in how many years at Lakeside?DavidOwen67 wrote:£1000 prize for the "first" nine-darter
Re: Road to BDO World Championships 2019
Who says it has been decreased? As already said, the nine darter wording has always said £1k + £1k in the event rules, the additional £50k was never specified in this document.

I was mocking the use of the word "first". As if there's going to be more than one. Let alone one.
Re: Road to BDO World Championships 2019
She has played in the previous years when the 52K was available to anyone so I doubt her being involved again this year would of caused the insurers any sleepless nights.ChrisW wrote:Not forgetting ex-PDC and current PDC player Anastasia.el_ringo wrote:

The premium for a lady hitting a 9 darter at Lakeside must be around the 50p mark anyway as it's only ever goign to happen if ladies are allowed to throw hedgehogs at the board.

Re: Road to BDO World Championships 2019
Durrant price probably about right, but some decent odds on the unseeded players.
And Waites at 25/1 looks way too big.
Will be waiting until the draw before deciding on my bet.

THE DRAW for 2019 Lakeside World Professional Championships took place today at the iconic Lakeside complex.
BDO MC Richard Ashdown was ably assisted by three times World Champion, ‘Wolfie’ Martin Adams and Lakeside proprietor, Bob Potter OBE as they determined who would face who in the opening matches.
The Men’s draw consists of eight preliminary matches, the winners of which will join the main first round stages, whilst all 16 ladies enter straight into the first round.
As always, the draw has thrown up some exciting first round clashes! Tony O’Shea makes his Lakeside return against the number 4 seed Wesley Harms, Canada’s David Cameron, ho makes his sixth consecutive appearance, faces 2019 debutant Andy Hamilton, Mark McGeeney plays Derk Telnekes and reigning Men’s World Champion Glen Durrant could face another clash with Winmau World Master Adam Smith-Neale or New Zealand's Mark McGrath.
In a repeat of last month’s Winmau World Masters quarter-finals, Lorraine Winstanley will play Casey Gallagher England teammates and European Pairs Champions Deta Hedman and Maria O’Brien are pitted against one another and four-time World Champion Lisa Ashton is drawn against BDO qualifier Japan’s Mikuru Suzuki.
