PDC Asian Tour 2019

Post by The Jolly Man »

THE dates and venues for the 2019 PDC Asian Tour have been confirmed, with 12 tournaments to be held in next year's $120,000USD circuit.

The PDC Asian Tour was introduced in 2018 to great success as players from across the region competed across six weekends.

Eventual Order of Merit winner Lourence Ilagan won four tournaments during the year to top the rankings, ahead of Seigo Asada, Royden Lam and Noel Malicdem.

Malicdem also landed a nine-dart finish during the year, while that quartet - along with Sinapore's Paul Lim - will all compete later in December at the William Hill World Darts Championship.

The 2019 Asian Tour will begin on January 26-27 in Seoul, with the first of six double-header weekends as players compete in tournaments worth $10,000USD per event.

Further weekends will be held in Kobe, Tacloban, Taipei and Hong Kong, with details of the final weekend of the year being finalised.

The Macau event seems to have been moved to Hong Kong. Malaysia is the missing host so far

Final figure if 174 for the events

Add this to the 120 signed up for event on the DPA circuit this weekend and things look healthy as you travel round the world.

Looks like those who did well last year are back to do the same this year.

Excellent final. Lam wins it 5-4 despite a 105 average from Lim.

Great standard - this deserves a higher prize fund (as does the CT FWIW).

There is a lot of talent in Asia but it's very top-heavy at the moment. Maybe the prizes for the latter stages could be more, but that would create even more of an all of nothing situation so I'd say it's fine for now

If so, he'd become the first player to play in it in 5 different decades - 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, 20s.

Worth pointing out that Lim would have missed out if Asada hadn't won the Japanese qualifier, but yeah, he's already gone a long way to securing another Ally Pally appearance

Smart move to make all the players in a floor tourney wear a PDC Asia badge at the PDK Satdium.
Gives a very professional look when you see the photos from the event.

Technically so could Magnis Caris as his games in the 2010 Worlds were played in 2009

Interesting loophole... Under that criteria, Lim's unlikely to play in the 20s in the 2020 Championship too.
