There are no guarantees but Durrant and Williams will be the best players at QS...Waites not that far behind and all 3 should get a card...but short format , big fields and draw dependant you never know...I hope they all do

If Glen plays anywhere near his best he will beat Waites relatively comfortably, but if he is the slightest bit off, Scott is the James Wade of BDO darts, and will pick him off.

For me a 7-3 win for Durrant.

Fantastic game tonight - the result in sets doesn't show how close it was, but it was only 21-19 in legs.

Jim Williams has come on leaps and bounds in the last few years, and I think he may well be the most successful of any BDO players at Q-school next week.

If Waites turns up, I think we're in for a cracking final tomorrow night.

The Grand Slam is an exhibition tournament. He is judged on his overall performances on the official side of the game
and is official world number 1 and he is 2 times world champion and the current defending world champion.

Durrant a very good player, but "official side of the game"??? Both codes are official last time I checked!?

Don’t know what Durrant’s doubling stats are across the tournament but I reckon must be below 30% which is worrying.

Regardless, the two best players in the BDO by a distance each going for a third title, can’t wait!!!

I don't understand players sometimes. At 4/3 and 2-2 in legs Wlliams had six darts at 161. He hits treble 20 with the first dart. Staying on the 20, worst case scenario, a straight ton leaves him 61 - 25/18x2. Instead he comes down for the treble 17 (with no need to go for the bull) and ends up leaving himself on 64 which is surely a harder finish? I don't get why people go for bull combinations when they don't need to go for the bull. That cost him the set imo.

Always go for the shot and it would have been the highest leading to the high out prize.

Still I understand what you’re saying. If anything he should gone bull on the last dart to have given him two at a double.

Despite being a great t20 hitter he twice from memory on 116 went for 4x19’s and didn’t get them - now that was more odd!

Yeah fair enough but with the match so delicately poised with five darts to clean up 101 and go level in sets surely the best approach is to give yourself the best chance of winning the leg? You see it all the time - players going for bull combination shots when they have no need nor intention of going for the bull.

I’m with you here, comms has been great. Will wait and see if the same commentators are witch hunted at the PDC Masters by the same people...

On thing though, surprised Wolfie hasn’t commentated all week? Everyone else has done both the commentary and analysing and Wolfie has done it well before.

I struggle to find a darts commentator I actually like but these have been really bad this week.

Nicholson is terrible, just talks complete and utter bollocks

Mace with Paul has been really bad but rawling has kept him in check a bit.

Rawling was my number 1 commentator but I don’t know if he doesn’t know enough about bdo darts but he’s talked a lot of nonsense this week.

To compare my favourite sky commentators at the minute are probably part and Webster. Mardle is the worst by a country mile

Rod Studd is head and shoulders above anyone else. Part, Webster, Mason & Rawling all good too.

I have been pleasantly surprised at this year's Lakeside..I've enjoyed what I've seen....I think the commentary has actually been ok...the actual production of the event has been good..much better than recent BDO efforts..this is a proper production that comes across fine..
The standard will never be PDC standard..the last PDC World championship was awesome in my mind and this will never live up to that standard wise, those days have long gone....some of the games have been a bit iffy standard wise to be honest but it's a grower and it's got better...tonight's matches were good and the 4 players left are quality players regardless of code..
Lakeside has come across well and I still think it would be a risk to leave but people seem to think the indig02 will get good promotion so maybe it would be ok...risky though...
All in all its been pretty enjoyable..commentators are ok..production good..presentation fine..standard very mixed but it will never be the PDC now but the last 4 now could all be very decent PDC players in my opinion?

Absolutely spot on, have saved me saying everything I wanted to say haha! Really enjoyed the Lakeside coverage by Eurosport, can't beat live darts at the home of world darts regardless of standard and lack of prize money. Well done Eurosport, comms & all of the players who reached the latter stages, great entertainment overall!

I think they overhyped the _performance_, but a 90.12 average _sounds_ a lot better than the 89.90 Ashton threw in last year's final, in 4 sets against a more competitive opponent in Dobromyslova.

I think Nicholson was especially excited because he's been a vocal supporter of women's darts, and Suzuki's win offers an opportunity to strengthen the women's game, with Japanese money and players.

Suzuki is miles ahead in Japan, pretty much all other top female players over there would struggle to average 65 consistently in steel-tip.
