I’d say that looks pretty healthy. And only from a UK perspective.

The last weekend looks decent enough. Afternoons were always going to be a bit pants.

Be interesting to see how post-Xmas and NY afternoon sessions on free to air TV compare :fishing

That many people watching a pub game final in a country of around 17 million people is outstanding though.

Sun 16th Aft - 94,384
Sun 16th Eve - 259,599 (sum of SSD and SSME)
------------------------------
Mon 17th Eve - 270,171
Tue 18th Eve - 187,069
Wed 19th Eve - 216,579
Thu 20th Aft - 66,500
Thu 20th Eve - 256,943 (sum of SSD and SSME)
Fri 21st Aft - 101,649
Fri 21st Eve - 186,166
Sat 22nd Aft - 162,316
Sat 22nd Eve - 313,497 (sum of SSD and SSME)
Sun 23rd Aft - 209,643 (sum of SSD and SSM)
Sun 23rd Eve - 392,277 (sum of SSD and SSME)
Can now add the 27 through 30 December to these:

Thu 27th Aft (L32): 93,100
Thu 27th Eve (L32/16): 352,600
Fri 28th Aft (L16): 113,200
Fri 28th Eve (L16): 303,300 (sum of SSD and SSME)
Sat 29th Aft (QF): 276,300 (sum of SSD and SSME)
Sat 29th Eve (QF): 376,300 (sum of SSD and SSME)
Sun 30th Eve (SF): 534,700 (sum of SSD and SSME)

Not sure if any of the first three sessions that week were on the Main Event channel: the Thursday night one defo wasnt as they were showing Southampton vs West Ham, the afternoon ones may have been and if so would have added a maximum of 99,400 to the total.

And finally, the final:

Sky Sports Main Event = 376,400
Sky Sports Darts = 281,900

TOTAL = 658,300

Lakeside final = 372,200

The PDC final total must be the lowest for a few years. Still had more viewers than a Freeview channel, mind.

Lakeside is watched by proper darts fans. The PDC is watched by football hooligans throwing piss over each other. Streaming is the future, these subscription channels fleecing the working man are on a downward spiral. Trust me, the PDC bubble is about to burst.

Those final numbers in the UK are terrible in comparison to previous years. Yes Michael Smith isn’t a household name, but surely MVG would pull in the punters?

so double the people roughly watched the cream of darts final (pdc) than the first reserve final (bdo) akin to premier league soccer to championship by comparison, my guess is that comcast will be scratching there heads as will the pdc, yes the rotw figures are very healthy indeed & should be applauded but when the home audience starts waning you have a case of rotw viewers carrying the home viewers, as has happened in soccer, broaden your market yes but to saturate you home market showing tourney from all over the world can lead to issues of viewer apathy
