Re: Gary Anderson pulls out of the premier league
I think they have made the best of the situation but they really need to re-think giving players the points, thats a bit daft.
Personally would love to see this be the start of changes to the PL, its such a boring tournament that takes up far to much time in the calendar.

Have you been on the port again.Garry Murphy wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 2:35 pm what happens if the nine additions make enough points to reach the play off ??????
what then ?
or even if the additions won it....split the trophy and prize money ???
lol
If any of the 9 additions make 8th in the table with 2 points after 9 nights, then they would thoroughly deserve to be there.

Absolutely daft in one way - why can’t they just have a permanent replacement??
That said, fair play on getting Duzza in, totally the correct call!!!

What an absolute farce.......this is totally not a serious org........ Glen as 3 times World Champ should be straight in to take Gary's place.

So why no place for the BDO number one McGeeney. Ridiculous.
Re: Gary Anderson pulls out of the premier league
Barry has a soft spot for Glen. Scot McGeeney will have to earn his place like the rest of them.Astonvilla wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 10:10 pm So why no place for the BDO number one McGeeney. Ridiculous.

In a way that's alright, there are a lot of people moaning that Hendo is a virtual bye, but hey, if MvG draws any of those players he likely obliterates them. Makes it a slightly more level playing field if MvG draws the supposedly weakest playerGinge wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 12:55 pmMeanwhile, MvG gets big Hendo. Hendo isn't the worst for me he got a lot more big stage experience than Lennon,Humphries,Aspinall and DurrantMensur Suljovic Fan wrote: ↑Tue Feb 05, 2019 3:49 amIn a way that's alright, there are a lot of people moaning that Hendo is a virtual bye, but hey, if MvG draws any of those players he likely obliterates them. Re: Gary Anderson pulls out of the premier league
Premier league division two promotion and relegation? smaller halls different night (maybe Mondays or Tuesdays) just a thought
Re: Gary Anderson pulls out of the premier league
Henderson's consistent but not great. If Henderson is a bye for van Gerwen, it's because van Gerwen's such a good player that he's unlikely to play badly enough to lose. But many of the other Contenders are more likely to have a bad game and be thrashed.Mensur Suljovic Fan wrote: ↑Tue Feb 05, 2019 3:49 amIn a way that's alright, there are a lot of people moaning that Hendo is a virtual bye, but hey, if MvG draws any of those players he likely obliterates them. Of the other contenders:
- luckiest they're playing in his country: Lennon
- most thankful for a good World Championship: Dobey
- most pressure: Durrant
Any player eliminated due to a loss to a Contender won't have played well enough to complain.
And I second Ginge's no to the idea of a division two. There are tournaments. Premier League is about seeing more of the best playing each other.
Re: Gary Anderson pulls out of the premier league
Because his record was 1-0-8, and his only points would have come against a player who isn't there on current ability and who will likely be ranked lower* than the player van Barneveld beat, and van Barneveld would also have got a draw against a player in the top 9 in the world.phil davies wrote: ↑Tue Feb 05, 2019 12:06 pmSo hypothetically let’s say Gurney ends up on 2 points and Barney on 3 after nine weeks. Now Gurneys 2 points came from beating Barney meanwhile Barneys only win came from beating Gando’s replacement how on earth would he not have a right to complain about the sheer idiocy of the PDC awarding points in those games?1205 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 05, 2019 11:49 amHenderson's consistent but not great. Also, you might have picked Wright v van Barneveld. Wright's out of form and gets to play Steve Lennon who did nothing of note in 2018 but is in because they have an event in Dublin and he's the best Irish player.
* Van Barneveld is defending 24.5k before Rotterdam, while Max Hopp is defending 1k. They are 16k apart on the OOM.

Re: Gary Anderson pulls out of the premier league
Here's the scoop
Hearn paid Anderson off to get Duzza in. Win-Win. Anderson rests his back and Hearn can promote the BDO Champion in the PDC premier League.
Spanner in the works - PDPA threw a wobbly and wanted either the stale Whitlock or Chisnall included.
Compromise - 1 night of Duzza is better than no nights of Duzza in Hearn's mind so as to appease the PDPA this "contenders" idea dreamed up meaning no need to consider ranking when picking the players.

Re: Gary Anderson pulls out of the premier league
Bar the pdc threw a wobbly bit I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if that’s what happened. Most of the 9 players playing are people Hearn called out on finals night for needing experience on the stage but not yet good enough for 14 full nights.Moongoose McQueeen wrote:Here's the scoop

Don’t see it as a start test of a 2nd division as people have mentioned but I’d be all for it if the “league” turned into 14 nightly tournaments where you can add different players each week

Re: Gary Anderson pulls out of the premier league
I cannot see why all the moaning..the Premier League is not aimed at a few forum die hards...it's darts for the masses....people I know watch it that wouldn't watch much darts through the year.. .groups from work go each year that would never go to any other event....it's not darts for purists..not darts for a few forum die hards...it's darts for the masses..the casual fan...TV on a Thursday for usually quiet nights for sports....it's not ranked....most people wouldn't give a monkeys who the 10th player was ...I think it's a good idea this as it adds interest for people who are interested and over the whole event who cares if there points on offer...I still maintain if you come 9th you've got no arguments...

Re: Gary Anderson pulls out of the premier league
I don’t think anyone is complaining about any of the points you have made
The stupid part of it is they have let players get points against the challengers, which is daft

The players get paid according to their final position. If the game doesn't count, they're playing for free.Zapp Brannigan wrote: ↑Tue Feb 05, 2019 8:50 pm I don’t think anyone is complaining about any of the points you have made

Re: Gary Anderson pulls out of the premier league
The Premier League will never be taken seriously until the most recognisable face in world darts gets an invite. The PDC have dropped a massive clanger here as this would’ve been an ideal time to bring in Wolfie.

I think they have enough commentators already mate.
