This 3 year thing, anything to do with DeLuxe and a venue perhaps?
You missed the bit where he makes a point of blaming it all on some unspecified thing that happened 3 years ago, and is at pains to point out he wasn't around in those days, then?

I don't deny he's being a lot more proactive than the previous board, which isn't difficult, and there are definite signs of progress on his watch.
However his whole "blame it all on the last lot" gimmick (which you may recall he also trotted out when he was struggling to get Lakeside on the telly) is going to get tiresome very quickly if it remains his default setting every time he suffers a set-back.
The 3 yr thing can’t be about a single venue surely. Either that or his plan is to take all the majors to a single venue. Can’t see him doing t that.

My guess would be sporttotal and the deal that’s in place with Them means anything has to go through them so they get a cut. Des has no doubt ploughed on trying to organise things himself. Now he has to give sporttotal a cut that hasn’t been budgeted on.

He must have things lined up cause how do you know a potential sponsor is signing for five years.

Whatever he announces its all irrelevant unless they get people through the door and buy tickets, thats what will determine whether the events are successful

I wonder if Oche has anything constructive to add to all this, rather than the two posts he had made so far since posting his OP chasing Skewball.

Could simply be a case of them expecting Potter to commit to 5 years in writing at Lakeside for the World's rather than the current 'handshake' deal

Exactly. Any events outside Lakeside (which wasn't even close to selling out and they gave loads of freebies away) have had a pitiful take up. Even tickets to some were cheap as chips.
You can change what you like, if paying punters are just not interested then it matters not where you hold it. Certainly will be interesting when the big events start that is for sure.
It would be a good thing for the events to be on Eurosport, but no paying punters will mean financial disaster. The sponsor(s) will have to weigh in with some serious cash to make it remotely sustainable.

At this point, giving tickets away to fill venues for the television events might be better. They're essentially starting from nothing.

Reads like issues related to existing contracts.

Oche and Chris getting way too excited at my first post for a week.

Perhaps they could stretch themselves to actually debating the point.

Nah, they know I'm right ;)

Unc Des should not give dates for future events occurring.
He knows it now and has given dates again.
Happy? :)

Paul saying on fanatics that des has taken on the bdo when their situation wasn't great. But am I right in saying they have loads of cash in reserve?

Debatable between 4 points I can see an argument for

1. When Greg lady removed darts from the ITV schedules in the late 1980's
2. When the WDC split and had their first championships on Sky TV
3. When Taylor trounced barney in 1999 on the ITV match of the century 60 minute game
4. When Barry Hearn took on the PDC and implemented the TV contracts that lead to the defections in 2001

Barney along with Webby and Ando switching circa 2006-2008 was in my opinion the point where the PDC overtook the BDO, of course following on from and due to Uncle Barry's governance.

Yes I agree but i think by then in all fairness the BDO wasn't spoken of as being 'great' it was already in a 'not great' state thanks to Olly's stubborn leadership
