Why are the BDO threads so quiet this year?
There is almost no traffic on their threads. Quite upsetting

Mandigers airing his frustration with the BDO.
https://mmj.tees.ac.uk/~mmj17/2019/04/0 ... do-players
Dutchman Willem Mandigers claimed the BDO does not do enough to keep its players happy.
The 29 year old from Eindhoven claimed that insecurity over major tournaments, venues and prize money is a major issue for darts oldest organisation.
Mandigers claimed “The BDO currently does not do enought for the players. There is no definitive answer as to where or when tournaments are. They are unclear on cut off dates particularly for The Lakeside World Championship and The World Trophy.
“They also allow people to have a lot of restrictions on where you can stay. If the tournament is open then you should be able to stay where you want.” Said Mandigers
Mandigers claimed the BDO’s uncertainty over securing major long term television deals is partly why he thinks that the BDO is not as strong as it used to be.
“As I said previously there are no televised tournaments that are certain and you never know what you are playing for.” Said Mandigers.
Eurosport showed the BDO World Championship this year and Mandigers claimed they did well as a whole getting the BDO to a new audience.
Eurosport is a conglomorate company which beams sport all around Europe, meaning that the sport will likely get to countries where there has not been much exposure to darts before.
“Eurosport did a good job at Lakeside last year so that is positive, maybe this will attract more money to the BDO and help it grow again” said Mandigers.
Countries such as France, a huge sporting nation show surprisingly little interest in darts, with no professioanl player ever coming from France.
The BDO World number nine, who had his best run at The World Championships, reaching the Quarter-Finals before losing out 5-4 against German Michi Unterbuchner.
On his way to the Last Eight Mandigers defeated his compatriot and BDO World number three Wesley Harms. Mandigers defeated ‘Sparky’ 4-2 in the Last 16.
Trying to get the BDO more exposure has been an issue for many years and this has meant with less money rolling in the BDO has not been able to keep up with its competitor, The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC).
While the BDO offers a total prize fund of £300,000 to its players, the PDC offers £2.5 million in its 2019 World Championship with £500,000 of that going to the eventual winner, Michael Van Gerwen.
And with the PDC’s prizefund again set to climb in 2020, can the BDO keep up or is darts first major organisation, soon to fall by the wayside?

To be blunt if he doesn't like what the BDO if he wants a proper professional environment to play darts in then he should join the PDC.
If he's not good enough to be able to get a PDC Tour card then he's just an amateur like the rest of the world and should just be happy with what he can play ont eh amateur side as his opinion is worthless unless he stands to be chairman of the BDO.
However Delectable Des was in London these past few days and visited the O2 ....

You do realise you have to get a tour card first.

That's an unreasonable response to reasonable complaints.el_ringo wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2019 4:42 pm To be blunt if he doesn't like what the BDO if he wants a proper professional environment to play darts in then he should join the PDC.

His complaints are about:
1) lack of notice
2) lack of clarity
3) allowing tournaments to have restrictions on accommodation
The 3rd complaint is a trade-off for sponsorship, but an organization doesn't have to be a fully professional money machine like the PDC to make sure that the first two don't happen.

I think 99% would agree with him.
Especially the bit where he states you have to stay at certain places to play events. I agree if it’s a open, then you should be open to stay anywhere.

Jamie Hughes didn't have much choice as a Lakeside qualifier failing at QS.. His options back then were limited... much more choice and flexibility to all QS failures now..phil davies wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2019 5:31 pmExactly so if you fail then you can both pdc and BDO events like Waites will be doing this year after his pathetic attempt to win a card. Alternatively you can do a Jamie Hughes and just focus on challenge tour and improving your game ready for Q school next year.oche balboa wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2019 5:23 pmphil davies wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2019 5:20 pmIf you can’t win one then your not a top player anyway. Mandigers has a fair point though.. You shouldn't have to be a PDC player to expect venues, dates, TV stations and prize money and cut off dates to be set in stone.. to be fair though Des does seem to be trying to put all this in place.. Its just happening very slowly
