If you can’t win one then your not a top player anyway. Plus if you fail you still have challenge tour/development (if young enough) plus if your European like him then some ET qualifiers.

Joining the PDC is gaining a tourcard
Exactly so if you fail then you can both pdc and BDO events like Waites will be doing this year after his pathetic attempt to win a card. Alternatively you can do a Jamie Hughes and just focus on challenge tour and improving your game ready for Q school next year.
Jamie Hughes didn't have much choice as a Lakeside qualifier failing at QS.. His options back then were limited... much more choice and flexibility to all QS failures now..

Mandigers has a fair point though.. You shouldn't have to be a PDC player to expect venues, dates, TV stations and prize money and cut off dates to be set in stone.. to be fair though Des does seem to be trying to put all this in place.. Its just happening very slowly
Indeed. It wasn't from choice. At least I doubt it.

Jamie Hughes had no choice but to focus on the challenge Tour, Otherwise he would have played in the BDO
TSOD World Grand Prix Prediction winner 2017.

Thankfully for him he no longer has to put up with the shambolic organising of events on that side anymore.
harms said - at the bdo you are a person - at pdc you are a number -stick to what you know -

Any reason given?

At least it is on next year (or planned to be on anyway ).

Not the start of things unravelling?

There are plenty of venues if you dont leave it to the last minute. Poor excuse. New era.

Just read on fanatics. So reason to cancel is because they didn't want an unsuitable venue (present one being demolished?). Sure there are tons of suitable venues out there.

Is des losing heart?

Announcement is on the BDO website.

However to find it you have to scroll past the massive advert for the North Cyprus Open.

Seems it's all about priorities.

Is there really an advert for the North Cyprus Open at the top of every sodding page?!?!

It's awful that banner.

I see they have added a new Cat A event to the Welsh Open weekend.

That's just a replacement for the Welsh Masters that shared the weekend with the International Open

Seems like Paul James is Des's gloss over man ...no mention of Des's CV and how much he loved the Youth Game but yet they suffer first. After all the 'spineless' insult and everything else ..I wouldn't be a lacky for someone

Not sure but maybe Paul knows this is the last chance saloon for the bdo? If des fails (and if another won the vote the same would apply ) then so does the bdo?

He said something about being good it was cancelled as the BDO hadn't lost money, which was good as they are skint.
