Without making a major semi final then.
He lost the final of the last ever News Of The Worlds that was televised and is / was considered a Major of it's day !
So not in the PDC cheers. Also not ranked so what bearing has that got to do with the fact a bloke who has never made a major semi final has got into the top 10. Was a big event back in the day when it was the only darts on TV but not when they brought it back from the dead for one year.
He isn’t in the top 10.

God rest Alf Garnett and Prince Phil.
I used to love cycling but unfortunately I know a man who doesn’t like cyclists.

The PDC didn't exist in 1997.

He played for a winners check of £42000 at the time this was the 2nd highest prize available in darts with only the PDC worlds in 1997 at £45000 paying more. It's got everything to do with your statement as this tournament proves you are incorrect in your assumptions. It was a major , it was on TV and he reached the final ranking or who ever organised it is irrelevant to what you have claimed.

How do you know ? It was shown live on Sky at the time so it would of been as popular as any other darts they showed then. Phil Taylor's comments on winning it in 1997 alone show the high regard this tournament was thought of by the players and to rubbish it as insignificant as you have is a total disrespect to the history of darts.

Fair play to White for winning that. Wright blew it though should have won it the leg before.
White moves into 10th in the OOM with that win despite never making a tv semi final.
Euro events are on TV, aren't they? Just not in the UK.
No.
By a quirk of fate, apparently they are on TV in the Czech Republic and Slovakia on a channel called Arena Sports. Only been the past three, so I bet there's something dodgy going on!

Whilst he hasn't made any semi-finals, he's made the quarters of all but two of the PDC's tv events (The Masters and the GSOD).
I think criticism of his TV/Stage ability is vastly over-stated.
His historical TV ability has been ok, however recently he has struggled and his performances unlike his rankings are getting worse rather than better.
Think Ian White is a good player, but he is having issues in closing out TV matches. Psychological, rather than ability led.
