Firstly it's not moaning. It's debating. (remember we are not on real fanatics here. On this site you are allowed to disagree).oche balboa wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2019 10:31 amMaybe not but the BDO possibly would
You moan when BDO have restrictions & you moan when they don’t
Secondly (as you well know) there are different type of restrictions. I didn't agree with the BDO withholding (or threatening to) prize money because someone wanted to switch.
The reason for my original point was that it was raised on real fanatics that it was a great idea that the kids could now win lakeside. I didn't say I disagreed. I said I was on the fence and questioned that opinion.
Next thing folk are taking it all personally. It's like you can't say "I think there should be age restrictions" without folk freaking out. yes a lot of good posters (players, officials etc) but it seems you have to 'tow the party line'.

The PDC age restriction is 16, which makes sense for an organization run for darts professionals. They have chaperone rules for under 18s.devosteve wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2019 12:53 pmFirstly it's not moaning. It's debating. (remember we are not on real fanatics here. BDO normal adult age is 18, which makes sense for something that at an amateur level has pubs at its heart.

Troll comment about the BDO aside, I agree with this.1205 wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2019 1:04 pmThe PDC age restriction is 16, which makes sense for an organization run for darts professionals. All darts is pub darts.
Re: Welsh Open
I wasn't trolling. BDO rules reflect the history of darts and the fact that it covers the amateur game.
PDC treats darts as a job, so the minimum age is the age at which people in the UK can leave full-time education.
Re: Welsh Open
Not the issue. The issue was saying the BDO is pub darts.1205 wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2019 3:32 pmI wasn't trolling. BDO rules reflect the history of darts and the fact that it covers the amateur game.

All darts is pub darts. Whether PDC or BDO.

In fact, why am I bothering saying that?

No. I said that the BDO includes the amateur game, of which pub darts is the core.McCleaner wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2019 3:40 pmNot the issue. If the legal drinking age were 17, I'd expect the BDO rules to have said 17.
The BDO really needs to change its rules to allow the better players under 18 to compete in major tournament qualifiers. They could define a standard that needs to be met, whether by ranking or reaching later stages of tournaments of a particular category.
