Bit optimistic of him tagging @BDOdarts at the end of his tweet.

He's not expecting a reply, surely?

He might get Laura Turner doing some more explaining and justifying under her own username, if he is lucky.

How low has it sunk where an announcement of the event even happening at all would be seen as positive?

If he wants to play on TV then he should have stuck it out on the PDC. You really don't go to the BDO for TV, you 'deserve' nothing particularly on that tour anymore

Sadly , it's reached the point where an announcement cancelling it would be seen as a positive

He got _2_ points at Q School, winning 4 matches in total.
1: 3-5 83.8 (Howson)
2: (2 points) 5-3 89.4, 5-0 70.9, 5-1 71.5, 1-5 74.4 (Davey)
3: 5-0 77.5, 1-5 84.6 (Carlin)
4: 1-5 69.4 (Lishman)

Not even close. He has occasional flashes of brilliance, but isn't even close to qualifying.

But, overall I think it's not asking too much to televise a few BDO events. As long as they don't pretend that the PDC doesn't exist, and as long as most of the match averages are in the mid-80s the games won't drag and it's comfortable viewing.

That's a good point, I'd momentarily forgotten that.
Do we know if Sportotal sorted that venue out last time?
This is the thing...surely they didnt. They never mentioned it on their website and it was round the corner from Sue's house, so why are they suddenly having to sort it now?

Unless Sue sorting that out herself was one of the 27 "breaches".

Memo Arts Centre was named 44 days before the event (tickets went on sale 2 days later). I believe we are now at 50 days before the 2019 version?
I'd always assumed that venue was the result of Sue going rogue and bypassing Sportotal given how local it was to her, but seeing as no-one ever actually owned up to it, I wasn't sure.

If that is one of the 27 breaches, I'd love to have a look at that contract. Sportotal were contractually obliged to find the venue, they didn't bother so Sue sorted it herself at the last minute, and she's the one in breach.
Only she could have signed up to something like that.
Sue found out they could get the venue for free as it was part of a council project to get local events there, so I imagine she told sportotal and they got it done
But if this is true why can’t Des do the same. He already had a long list of potential venues and sponsors.

Hamilton would t give a monkeys about the WDT if he'd got a Tour Card.. Ditto for the likes of Jim Williams etc..

However as it stands this is one of THE major events for the BDO players to aim for and at least get some coverage on TV and some half decent prize money

Even if its announced today that it's on its going to be a disaster.. There's little appetite these days for the public to turn out to watch BDO darts anyway and to expect people to show up at some last minute venue with no time to organise travel and time off work is just ridiculous.. Bad enough for the players to turn out at such short notice never mind a crowd..
If this is on its going to look ridiculous on TV.. It'll make Preston look like a Premier League night in comparison.

6 years ago people were saying the BDO was shite but those days seem like great days in comparison!

I suppose it was Barney going that started the big slide.. Back when they had Lakeside and the Winmau on BBC.. They had the IDL and WDT in Holland.. They had deeper fields than the PDC..its been downhill every year since Barney went.. and this year just feels like the worst of the lot

His initial decision that meant players could go to QS without any problems killed the BDO. The best ones left and got cards and guys like Waites and Williams lost value to sponsors as they became QS failures.
Hard to see why anyone would now want to put up money to sponsor what they have left.

If ranking points were based on dodgy GoFundMe pounds Parletti would be #1 by a mile.
