BDO announce deal with 180 & L style

Post by oche balboa »

THE BRITISH DARTS ORGANISATION are delighted to announce the signing of a new, Official Partnership with One80 and L-style, bringing together two of the world’s leading brands in darts with Britain’s only recognised governing body in darts. Starting in August 2019, the five-year contract will see the BDO working in tandem with our new partners, committed to broadening our reach, increasing our interest levels and further raising the profile of the BDO, One80 and L-style.

Des Jacklin, Chairman and CEO of the BDO has expressed his enthusiasm at the new partnership; ‘I am delighted that we have signed up for the next 5 years with two exciting companies. One80 have a great quality Dart Board and L-style are now leading the way with a new fresh look to our sport. This also gives the BDO a foot in the door to the Asian Market’.

As part of the newly forged partnership, One80’s Gladiator 3 boards will become the tournament dartboard of choice across all BDO-run events including the BDO British Inter County Championships (BICC), British Open, British Classic and our three televised majors, making One80 the ‘Official Dartboard supplier of the BDO’. In addition, One80 will also become the official apparel partner to the BDO, with exclusive rights to produce dual-branded darts wear. L-style’s innovative and stylish range of accessories will see them become the BDO’s official partner across flights, shafts and barrels.

Director of One80 Europe, David Lewis stated that ‘One80 are excited and honoured to be joining forces with the BDO. Through our partnership we hope to support the BDO in its continuous ventures to preserve the grass root of darts and help future growth’.

Speaking on behalf of L-style, President Tsuyoshi Yamasaki echoed One80’s sentiments; ‘We are thrilled and proud to be entering into an official partnership with the British Darts Organisation. Together, we believe that we can make darts even more exciting’.
As well as providing exposure for One80 and L-style, this venture will give both partners joint sponsorship of the newly named ‘One80-L-style World Masters’ for the next five years, commencing with the 45th World Masters in October this year.

So they have the boards, the darts and the accessories just no venue, no sponsor and no date.

I wonder what the pdc will think of his crowing how they are 'official governing body'?

Sure this is not true anyway. Recall both pdc and England darts still going for this title?

Let's see what happens re gsod

It hasn't been in dispute since 1997 when the court issue was settled.
The PDC agreed to recognise the WDF as world body and the BDO as the national body for Britain (UK?).

I have no idea what the EDO Jocks Welsh and NI darts organisations claim to be I presume they are WDF members but not sure if they are BDO members

Didnt see these deals coming lol.

In all seriousness it is a step in the right direction for the next few years to have more than one sponsor on board.

Also opens up the market to asia a little more as Lstyle are the biggest selling in Asia.

Maybe more announcements coming up regarding these deals soon I would imagine.

It’s great to see other dart brands getting involved. Think it’s an area that the PDC miss out on due to the ties with Unicorn. Think they could drum up a lot more sponsorship across the board for it’s different tours and events if they could move away from unicorn.

Over the last few years there are quite a few more prominent dart brands appearing both Home and abroad and the BDO now seem to be starting to take advantage of it. Time will tell if this is better than what they had previously.

However they have lost a lot of the top British players now, what will happen to the Dutch players now finder have left. Announcing they have a foot into the Asian market is a great thought but the PDC have a tour on the continent that is two years old now that all the top players go to. They are way behind the curve, and that’s just in the uk. Again this smacks of the organisation trying to be a world player rather than trying to sort out its own domestic circuit first.

Is it telling that despite them talking about 3 majors etc, they have announced sponsors for the event in October before the one in August. Are they trying to entice another sponsor in by saying people are working with us? Are they announcing this without announcing a venue for the masters because again they don’t have one but trying to make the event more appealing to venues?

Who knows if they have a venue, we certainly dont.

I think Des has been waiting till the ink was dry on deals before the announcement, I know how the deals were offered out as a company i was with was also considering getting involved.

But any new big and recognised darts companies coming on board is a step in the right direction. Taking over the World Masters as lead sponsor is a massive thing for Lstyle as the masters is bigger than the WC in Asia.

Who knows if these companies with there contacts may tap into other companies to sponsor events. Look at soft tip, sk many different companies involved.

Press release - The BDO's biggest sponsor who had the oldest darts tournament still in existence named after their famous brand has decided to leave the RMS Destanic as they could see the iceberg from 100 miles away.

However, a couple of far eastern companies have chucked a few quid our way so we're going to make out its all plain sailing from now on.

Besides Captain Des is not on the bridge. He can't even see an iceberg from Spain as he spends his hard earned North Cyprus Open zlotys.
