His performances here have been on the better side of his BDO performances, but certainly not exceptional for him. (Just check dartsdatabase for his recent BDO major and GSoD averages).

That he had the scoring power to compete with the top players in the PDC has never been in doubt (for anybody with an ounce of objectivity). It's always been about whether he had the temperament to do it. He;s done well in Players Championships but until the Matchplay had been awful on the stage (he's had ZERO wins against decent players on the European Tour). He still choked in his game against van Gerwen at 11-10 up, but he recovered well with a 15 dart leg against the throw and a hold of 17 dart legs to win against an out-of-form van Gerwen. (Not that van Gerwen was terrible, it's just that the difference between 15 darts and 16 darts plus is so huge.)

Durrant v Wade will be interesting over the longer format. Wade generally beats players with his consistency and finishing. This year Durrant has lost a lot of games by missing doubles that would allow him to break in 15, and then having a bad leg on his own throw. If he plays well, he could blow Wade away, but I'd expect a close game.

The pressure of being the unanimous World champion was to much for MGV.........Glen however rose to the occasion.

Thought the match was poor,and Durrants interview after was laughable.He only beat a well below par MVG,which isnt too difficult.
Try losing 14 stone in 7 years,now thats difficult.
