Does this mean Heta will be seeded in the Melbourne event?
I don’t think so as the 8 PDC players remain the seeds at every event.

However Cadby and Kyle Anderson are part of the local 8 who play the seeds. Whitlock remains a seed.

If anyone complains they will probably say seeded on PDC OOM which Heta isn’t in so a 0 like the other local non PDC players.

ITV4 are ditching their WSOD coverage tomorrow night for Spanish football at 8pm.
https://www.itv.com/news/2019-08-15/itv ... w-evening/

Have got 3 weeks of La Liga rights whilst they struggle to find a long term U.K. pay TV broadcaster.

So does this mean ITV4 will show tomorrow’s WSOD live so most will need to record.

The PDC World Series of Darts' third visit to Melbourne will see 16 players in action from August 16-17 at the Melbourne Arena, with the clash between Wright and Cadby headlining Friday's opening night.

The pair have met twice before on the World Series stage, claiming a win each, while Wright got the better of the young Australian in their latest meeting at the 2017 Grand Slam of Darts.

Both players will be looking to put disappointing displays in Brisbane behind them, after Wright was knocked out in the first round by Kyle Anderson and Cadby also fell at the first hurdle against Gary Anderson.

New sensation Damon Heta will face James Wade in a replay of last weekend's first round encounter which Heta won 6-5 to kick-start an incredible run to the Brisbane title.

World number one Michael van Gerwen begins his quest for a first PDC title since May against Tim Pusey, while Gary Anderson will take on James Bailey.

Legendary Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld, competing in his penultimate World Series of Darts event, will be hoping for a second victory in as many weeks against New Zealander Haupai Puha.

Brisbane runner-up Rob Cross will take on TV debutant Robbie King, third seed Daryl Gurney meets Kyle Anderson and Simon Whitlock plays Mick Lacey in an all-Australian clash.

Friday's first round at the will be followed by the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final on Saturday.

For tickets, visit www.ticketek.com.au.

The Melbourne Darts Masters will be broadcast live on Fox Sports across Australia and worldwide through the PDC's international broadcast partners, as well as through PDCTV-HD for Rest of the World Subscribers (outside of the UK, Ireland & Netherlands).

Coverage in the UK will be on ITV4 from 1900 BST on each night.

Heta played very good. Didn't win just because wade was sub standard.
Good to hear comms re him coming to the UK for 6 months.

Been watching on ITV4.

Great performance from Heta, showing he has gained in confidence since his victory last week. Damon's results are further vindication that the WSOD events have had a huge effect on the standard within those territories targeted by the PDC.

Raymond van Barneveld remains hopeful of recapturing his best form in the final four months of his illustrious 32-year career.

The legendary five-time World Champion is building up to one more attempt at winning a sixth world title at the 2019/20 World Championship, after which he will retire from the sport.

Speaking to former world number one Rod Harrington, Van Barneveld revisited the reasons behind his decision to call it a day.

"When I play in exhibitions I feel relaxed with the crowd and want to show them what I can do - I want that Barney back," said Van Barneveld.

"But it's not been happening for three or four years and you need to be honest with yourself.

"When I was the best player in the world I beat Phil [Taylor] in the final and I let everyone know I was the best player in the world.

"Now, I'm realistic and I know I'm not the best player in the world anymore.

"I'm 52-years-old, I would've played on until 55 but my time has come."

Since announcing his intention to retire in November 2018, the ten-time PDC televised event winner has endured a mainly difficult time on the circuit, including an early-elimination from the Premier League for the first time.

Speaking in the midst of his final World Series of Darts tour in Australia and New Zealand, Van Barneveld paid homage to the continued support of the 'Barney Army.'

"The crowd is always fantastic, they love me and they call my name everywhere I go. I will never, ever forget that," the Dutchman continued.

"But the thing is you want to win things, you want to lift trophies - that's what I did in the past and that's still what I want to do.

"When you haven't won things for three to four years it gets in your system; you start to worry more, you doubt yourself and you don't want that life anymore.

"I'm a winner, the same as Phil Taylor, the same as Michael van Gerwen, I hate losing and for the last few years I don't win any competitions anymore."

Following the NZ Darts Masters, the final leg on the World Series tour Down Under, Van Barneveld still has a chance to qualify for the World Grand Prix.

The Dutch legend will then look ahead to competing in the Netherlands for one final time at the World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam in November, before attention turns to what is sure to be an emotional final World Championship appearance.

"I'm just going to keep practicing and hopefully one day it will be there," Van Barneveld added.

"I've only got four months left so hopefully it will be there soon.

"After I retire I'm going to stick to the exhibition circuit and I'm pretty sure I will always be in the darts world."

I again wonder if cadby is a '1 year wonder'. If so folks might be wise to cut down on the bigging up of every emerging young talent.

Leighton Bennett for example. Let's see what happens in a couple of years.

Cadby will get back to the top. Don’t forget he lost close to a year of playing competitive darts. Then this year has seen a massive move for him to uk to adjust to.

Where is Cadby in terms of keeping his tour card ? Isn’t his 2 years up at the end of the season ?
Surely he needs to make the WC to keep it but he’s doing nothing in the floor events to win the money to get there on the Pro Tour OOM.

That's me just watched the ITV coverage.

Agree with Devo, that Ando vs MVG was a good match. Another step on the road to getting back to playing like he is capable of for Gary.

Thought Gurney played well, Snakebite was terrible, and the crowd were horrible.

Have to say out with the WC, the boring, boring tables bullshit is not overly evident at PDC tournaments, but those at the darts in Melbourne were pretty much reflective of the Ally Pally crowd.
