Re: Darts in the media
LiveDarts broadcast with Chris Mason.
Both articulating that they have heard that the BDO have no money in the bank and are relying on ticket sales to be able to run their WC (10 minutes in).

If true then maybe this explains trying to get back to lakeside (Ltd data on phone so can't play it tonight), if des did try to return.
Surely it was foolish to leave if this is the situation?

All lies, Des is the saviour.

Re: Darts in the media
Again if true : could it back a case that the world championship could take place but winnings mot paid out due to poor ticket sales?
What does Mason say. He's just heard a rumour?

Re: Darts in the media
Pigeons coming home to roost.
A few of us have been saying they are running out of money for a while (well me antway) but hey, its ok because 'everyone had a good time' and there was 'good production' etc.
So Des the genius business man has pissed £600k up the wall?
Its borderline criminal if hes ruined the BDO in a year chasing a dream.
What a joke.
Anyway, well see if it's true in 12 months or so I guess before we can say too much.

BDO close to running out of money
Think this deserves it's own thread rather than get hidden in the weeds on the other thread.
According to Chris Mason on his LiveDarts interview, from a reliable source, the prize money for the World Championship is not in the bank account and the organisation is close to running out of cash. I'm sure this will be vociferously denied by those in high places.

Re: BDO close to running out of money
Like I said on another thread, it’s time for the BDO to close in its current guise.

Re: BDO close to running out of money
Definite numbers 686K in May 2017, 450K lose last year = 236K
Since May rough numbers are; 100K operating costs, 30K commissions, 160K events = - 54k with about 90k income.
So position today is about 30K. Might be a bit worse on costs and might be some interco income from counties. Close to bust
as makes no difference.
Previous apparent useless idiots lost 140K total in 7 years!!!
Beware what you wish for and believe seems appropriate. But why bother with published facts when made up stuff is more
fun to play Dud and Pete with.

Re: BDO close to running out of money
Sorry, but who lost 450k last year? Is this a made up number? And who lost most if not all of that money?bishbashbosh180 wrote:Definite numbers 686K in May 2017, 450K lose last year = 236K

Re: BDO close to running out of money
Do you have a bit of a breakdown on the 450k loss last year?
Re: BDO close to running out of money
Does seem strange as said 20k loss each year over 7 years now suddenly 450k loss in one year.
Re: BDO close to running out of money
Is the issue that both BBC and then C4 paid for Lakeside but with that prize fund paid by Potter then the TV money covered the loses of the WDT and Masters having no sponsorship of the prize fund.
Now they are with Eurosport who are paying nothing for the rights (or a nominal amount) there’s no money to pay for the Masters and WDT hence those events should have been cancelled. Hold them blew through the BDO bank account.
Key point of all of this is the failure of the BDO to get sponsors to pay for the prize funds,

Re: BDO close to running out of money
That was the only number given at the AGM.
No material costs between May and World Trophy so logically would relate to last years 3 televised events mainly.
Informed estimates would be 100k world trophy, 130K Masters and 200K WC with 329k sponsorship from Lakeside.

Re: BDO close to running out of money
How much are they paying each other in salaries?
Re: BDO close to running out of money
I thought no finance details were being given out in the AGM. The only details of finance I have seen were coming out of companies house and our resident accountant.

Re: BDO close to running out of money
Salaries have always been marginal, not material to the overall numbers unless they changed last year which is unknown but
unlikely to be significant.
The 450K was a throw away number from Des cos of the burnt laptops even though could have just logged into Xero and given the
BS and P & L live from the accounting system. So not discussed in any detail just a statement. Been reported on Fanatics previously.

Re: BDO close to running out of money
How accurate do you think the 450k is?
Considering you quoted 20k loss per year, then suddenly 450k in one year??
