Winmau tweeted they dont own the trophy and say the BDO have it

Lstyle rep said they had no say in the new trophies and was told it was a BDO decision

Someone found the trophy the bdo used for the final on sale for £20

Apparently now on facebook its said the BDO wouldnt pay to have Winmau removed from the trophy.

Take a stab in the dark at whose defending the decision because the old trophy is "a bit tatty?"

and didnt think to make it it time for the tournament that they knew was coming for 12 months?

or easier yet why not alter the name on the old, original trophy that everyone knows.

I'd say Ashton probably thought she would get the invite last year and was then odds on to get it this year. I don't think they thought Suzuki would win and to include Ashton and not the World Womens Champ would be a struggle to explain.

Think PDC will be delighted to get Suzuki on tv. She will sell more in Asia than Ashton would in the uk. Suzuki is a massive name in darts circles across asia

I love how the BDO put out all the info on the event which clearly states trophies only for the Youth and then moans that he has no idea where the rumours came from that there was no prize money.
The guy should be drinking with Arthur Daley in the Winchester Club..

I agree that the PDC will be delighted with this. Do you think the PDC for the potential marketability in Asia would have insisted on Suzuki's inclusion if she was runner up to Ashton in 2019? ?

Long time reader, first time poster. I (and two friends) were at the Circus Tavern on Sunday as paying customers. Was disappointed to hear that tickets were being given away basically, but by the same token, I got my money's worth overall.

Enjoyed the event for what it was, had seats right at the very front and even won myself some Bobby George darts on stage in one of the breaks in the afternoon session. Having said that, I probably wouldn't got again knowing what I know now.

I think the fact that it was an open secret that practically no-one had a paid for ticket. When talking to others there, they weren't shy in saying about it. The venue was pretty uncomfortable for an event like that all day too. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed myself while I was there as a one-off, but with everything considered, it's not something I'd rush back for.
