Re: The Rise of the WDF!
All they need is for some former Soviet Bloc country president to have a laugh for a few years and plow some money into a European Tour or is that just FIFA.

Cough, cough.devosteve wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 11:43 am I am just wondering with the BDO going from 'car crash to car crash' if there are plans afoot for the WDF to step up and do something?
Folks on face book have been hinting WDF points may count for something in the future.
Folk like Ross have hinted there is something going on (not necessarily with the WDF I might add).
Also the WDF have appointed players commissioners from different countries. The UK rep (and also chair person) is Deta Hedman.
When I asked Paul what the role entailed his reply was (highlights by me):
"not a union rep has a vote on the board , and it has to be an elected position to satisfy IOC recognition. With Little Richard being made development officer with his many media contacts signs are WDF stepping up to the plate , people think IOC recognition is all about being in the Olympics but in reality its a gateway to funding . There are other players on the commission at moment from Australia, Japan , , Austria and Hungary , WDF can add a north American rep as well .
The feeling is actively working with other countries will maximise sponsorship opportunities and lead to a meaningful WDF major .
Seemed a very positive delegates meeting , differed from a BDO delegates meeting in that everyone was there by choice it isn't a meeting you have to attend , very well attended i might add ."
What do we think?
back in October. Might need to read the thread to see any posts by the doubters.

Bump.
Guess the news from the wdf will have its own thread.
will all be revealed tomorrow at ally pally?
Will the wdf announce their plans before the 02 event?

What news are you expecting, surely its too early for a fully affiliated wdf tour working as a feeder to the pdc. That should be the end goal, however a new wdf amateur world championship with pdc tour card spots for the finalists would be a start. GSOD spots also awarded to wdf instead of bdo as well
Re: The Rise of the WDF!
The BDO will then disappear. The counties c an run the BICC themselves.clemy1989 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 9:50 am What news are you expecting, surely its too early for a fully affiliated wdf tour working as a feeder to the pdc. In fact they already do and the BDO just takes a cut.
Does anyone know if tthe BDO still have their sticky fingers on BICC funds.

I’m interested in the answer to this one! Super League fees have just been paid. Where will they go?

It's the start of the year. Why would it be too early?clemy1989 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 9:50 am What news are you expecting, surely its too early for a fully affiliated wdf tour working as a feeder to the pdc. Because there will be a lot of background work that would need to be done before going live with a fully integrated tour. It's impact on development and challenger tours would need to be taken into account. The pdc aren't going to rush something like that.Duneh9617 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 10:51 amIt's the start of the year. Why would it be too early?clemy1989 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 9:50 am What news are you expecting, surely its too early for a fully affiliated wdf tour working as a feeder to the pdc. (2.02 a) European member bodies can apply for 6 ranked events.clemy1989 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 10:59 amqBecause there will be a lot of background work that would need to be done before going live with a fully integrated tour. There will be 24 Challenge Tour events over 6 weekends, so they could have 1 each weekend with ranking points.
(2.05) Member bodies are expected to try to coordinate, but they could exempt them for 2020.
Or just bow down and let the PDC do whatever they want.
I'd expect that the Development Tour wouldn't be ranked. Too old for youth, and less important to rank than the Challenge Tour.
Re: The Rise of the WDF!
I'd like to see something slightly different. Each member of the wdf would hold its own national tour with promotion up to a continental tour, the wdf would also run this continental tour and these would largely be at amateur level. Then promotion from that would be to a minimum challenger tour level but with free entry to q-school as well.
This would finally allow the game to have a fully global ranking system and route from amateur to pro

finally allow the game to have a route from amateur to pro - cracking idea, they could call it 'Q School'

Re: The Rise of the WDF!
The rules would have to be re written. I can’t see the PDC throwing all the hard work the DPA for example down the pan. They’ve got 24 events I think.1205 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 2:39 pm(2.02 a) European member bodies can apply for 6 ranked events.clemy1989 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 10:59 amqBecause there will be a lot of background work that would need to be done before going live with a fully integrated tour. The World Darts Federation would like to make our member countries and their players aware that we are currently revising our senior rankings criteria, so to launch a brand new system for 2020.
Discussions are ongoing between the WDF Executive, our nations and our commercial partners to ensure that our “2020 vision” of a viable global circuit for all players becomes a reality, with the addition of brand new WDF major tournaments within the next 12 months.
The WDF season runs from January to December and we will begin the calendar year with new tournament categories of GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE. We will also be introducing regional ranking tables for both men and women, to the benefit of all of our players worldwide. Full details will be announced in the coming days.
It is evident from the regular updates to our calendar with over 40 different countries already signed up for the 2020 season, that we have the full support of our members worldwide. This system is being developed by the WDF, on behalf of the nations that form the WDF.
All of the information that you require will be published as soon as it is available. We can reassure you that it would be beneficial to compete on the WDF circuit, with additional incentives soon to be announced.
Our first senior tournament of the year is the Las Vegas Open (January 17-19), followed by ranking events in Australia, Iceland and Canada. In mainland Europe, the season begins with two of our premier weekends, the Romanian Darts Festival (January 24-26) followed by the iconic Dutch Open Darts.
For information on how to enter these events, please see our WDF calendar page.
