I have it on good authority from a source I trust that the businessman subsidising the prize fund is none other than.... Barry Hearn. It's on the condition that the BDO scale back their involvement and focus purely on the county game.

This will allow the WDF (with PDC backing) to organise their own amateur world championship.

I can see some logic to this from Des's perspective given what I said above. I cam also see the logic of the end point for PDC.
But, I'm struggling to see the business justification for actually spending the money on propping up a prize fund that could just be left very low.. and we still end up at the same end point.

Logic doesn't come into this. I struggle to believe that Des's ego would allow him to effectively give in to the PDC.

The threat of prison will do wonders for putting ego's back in their box

Prison is an over reaction. Banned from being a director is the most that will happen unless he has done something criminal, being incompetent doesn't count.

Trading (this tournament) when knowingly insolvent (already bills owing and not paid are potentially a clue) is a criminal offence.
