Kleermaker about the situation:
''I haven't heard a word from the directors, only rumours. This because Jacklin is barely at the venue. He is scared to face the players. He doesn't have my support, and with me many more players. If the prizefund is truly that low, than it looks like this will be the end''
A ringing endorsement of the BDO and its leadership if ever I've seen one.

The lack of any discernable strength in depth in ladies darts shows why the PDC need to save it. The BDO have not progressed the game nearly enough over the last few decades.
This kid can play in fairness, but in general there have been so many low 60's averages, not least Paula Jacklin who managed to average under 65 despite not having the chance to miss any doubles.

And with rule changes adding euro tour quaffing for associate members for the 13 euro tour and challenge tour events how many will come back to bdo

They don't know what the fund is... Justin Hood said Des told him on 30/12 that the winner got 35k but the prelim and 1st round was the same.. The rest tbc... Gary Stone said Des told him. 50k to the winner... Nobody seems to know round by round what's on offer.. Dartfreakz are now saying 23k which I assume was given to them by one of the Dutch losers... What I do know is that I admire all the players for getting up there and playing like they have given all that's gong on.... but nobody seems to bother as long as the venue is nice

From Rogg over the road
Des Jacklin: ‘People say the BDO can’t compete with the PDC, but that is the biggest load of crap in the world’
God rest Alf Garnett and Prince Phil.
I used to love cycling but unfortunately I know a man who doesn’t like cyclists.

The lack of any discernable strength in depth in ladies darts shows why the PDC would be crazy to take it on. Sherrock proved that if they're good enough they can compete with the men so that's what they should do.Thehateful180 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2020 4:06 pm The lack of any discernable strength in depth in ladies darts shows why the PDC need to save it. I don't see it happening. The pdc have a very egalitarian approach to darts, by and large.Thehateful180 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2020 4:06 pm The lack of any discernable strength in depth in ladies darts shows why the PDC need to save it. Is it possible that segregation has actually been counterproductive? What has been keeping the ladies game down? Is it the fact that ladies cant throw a dart as well (struggle to believe this as a generalisation) or is it more the lack of competition forcing them to get better. If they played open darts throughout, including pubs, county etc, maybe fewer ladies would play, but those that do would be better as a result.
With something as objectively measurable as darts (same board, same oche, same equipment, no physical engagement) there is no strong case to separate the ladies and the gents other than historical standards. Replacing one tranche of ladies darts for another I dont think solves anything. It would just perpetuate.
