I know we all like a bit of banter and sometimes it's fun to poke fun at their ineptitude but I don't want to see the BDO disappear and I believe that goes for the vast majority of darts fans. I also think there is room for the two World Championships to coexist even if one drops 'professional' from the title and works in tandem with the PDC to reuinfy the sport, perhaps, under the WDF umbrella. Adams is correct - the battle for pro darts has been lost. Accept the situation and work with the professional side of the game to get the amatuer side's house in order. There is no need any longer for division - people need to remember it wasn't Barry Hearn who caused the split in darts, it was the players who felt they could no longer earn a living. Had Olly Croft put his own pride and ego at the door it might never have gotten to this stage but here we are, 25 years down the line, and the lessons still haven't been learned.

Adams may be right but although he has been one of the greatest dart players of all time he would not be a suitable person to run the BDO.

Let's face it, the desire to get new events going, this "speculate to accumulare" tactic we have seen poorly implemented by Sue then Des was all a day late and a dollar short.

This is a tactic that should have been employed in the mid-late 2000's. Back then the organisation still had players with name value, they had the proof that people were buying what the PDC were selling, and they had a good relationship with the BBC. Instead it was allowed to fester in a maroon haze, while an organisation they could have piggy backed off at least, disappeared into the sunset.

That period of festering opened the door for clowns like the Jacklin family.

Agreed - there is a pro setup in Matchroom which has offered to help with management and investment and although he doesn't say it directly I think that was what Adams is getting at. Why would the BDO need to approach Hearn about moving the worlds if not to cooperate in some kind of reunification? It would just move it to Easter without consulting anyone. If you read between the lines I think what Adams is saying is to accept that the war for pro darts has been lost and to cooperate with Hearn to get the BDO moving again. And I agree with him entirely - Hearn has money to invest and expertise to offer, why on earth wouldn't you want to take advantage of that?

fwiw I do think there is a market for a "Amateur world championship" if the BDO marketed it as that and held it in November. The PDC would see the intertest in that as well and you would see them getting on board and offering incentives (Mens and ladies winner goes to Ally Pally, finalists get tour cards ect ect), you could even keep the O2 and Eurosport then.
