Clearly anyone who takes over has a big job on their hands. Whilst I don't think the BDO is toxic is certainly has no direction or vision. For someone taking over from the Selecta's they probably need to take the following actions:
- see what contracts Des leaves. Get out of anything that isn't beneficial
- forensic oversight of finances
- rebuild trust with players
- actually work with and for the counties
- sort out the marketing and promotion
- talk to the WDF and PDC with the view to working with them
- reduce the number of tournaments, increase quality of those left
- overhaul ranking system (or incorporate into WDF's system)
- move the worlds to the end of season
- drop the pretence of being a rival to the PDC
- rename worlds to the amateur worlds championship
- actually pay out prize money
There are further changes I'd explore such as imposing a maximum age of entry to some events, after all it's about bringing through the youth. If you're not good enough to have turned pro at 45 (or whatever cut off is fair) then you're not likely to ever be one. You'll still have the county game and general events.
Also a real need to actually be professional in how business is conducted. Sniping via facebook / twitter / sock accounts is just shockingly weak. Stand up and be accountable rather then blaming everyone and anything but the actual problem.
I also get the impression that the Selecta's will need to be banned from future events as it appears they will carry a grudge and be disruptive. In fact, a general clear out of the old guard would be a great start.

The british anything, darts organisation, British arse wipers association, probably won’t survive past 2024 anyway as Britain as an entity won’t exist Scotland will be Independent, Ireland will be one so the need for a British or uk anything will be obsolete,

Yes Kier would be the better choice. Far better than these facists we have in now.Booji Boy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 2:52 pmIslamophobiaNvH wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 2:46 pmCorbyn and his rabid supporters ARE nasty, especially when it comes to them Jews. Although Corbyn has plenty of time for his terrorist friends of course.Murphio wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 1:54 pmYou openly voted for the party of Boris Johnson, Jacob Rees Mogg and Ian Duncan Smith and describe Corbyn as 'nasty'. I find that utterly incredible so aye I'll go back to posting about darts because I have no wish to engage with that kind of stupid.NvH wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 1:47 pmYou should probably stick to posting about darts. All three of the main party leaders at the time were against Brexit, but it happened anyway. When we first joined the EU (EEC as it was), it was actually Labour who were against it.
Unemployment, homelessness, etc, have always existed regardless of who is in charge. Austerity measures appear to have ended, although the huge national debt should be a concern.
But you know, perhaps you're right. Maybe we should have a socialist utopia, like Britain in the 1970s or Venezuela under Chavez? I'm surprised the likes of Owen Jones can show his face on TV again after defending that regime.
It isn't my side who wants people to lose their job and destroy their life because they made an inappropriate comment on social media. Now THAT is nasty, wouldn't you agree?
It isn't my side who think that you can simply wake up one morning and change your sex or be "gender fluid". Do I like Rees-Mogg and IDS? Not particularly, but this is what the idiots on the left deserve for pushing their nonsensical agenda too far. I'm sure they can do basic maths, unlike Diane Abbott.
But fine, back to the darts it is. You actually know something about the arrows. It's not like you could offer any real counter-arguments to my points, just blurt out "unemployment", "homelessness", as if these never happened under Labour.
Homophobia/transphobia/loads of other phobias.
Bedroom tax
Millions having to rely on foodbanks
Aye your "side" have done a brilliant job.
I used to be a fan of Corbyn but soon realised he was never going to get elected.
Hopefully Kier Starmer will be the new Labour leader. He seems to occupy the middle ground and has enough of a left lean about him to appease that side of the party.

By that, I presume you mean the PDC.
Only needs a points database and a World Not-Professional Darts Championship with reasonable money to sit on top of the various events arranged by the member bodies. If a member body has a good event, it'll grow.
Make sure that the prize money for the Not-PDC World Champsionships it isn't top-loaded like the BDO version, so semi-pros are supported, but the system doesn't encourage anyone to be a big little fish.

Re: If the BDO survives and someone new takes over.
The BDO cannot survive. It is a dead organisation, writhing about in it's death throes. It needs to be disbanded/dissolved. Des is a bullshitter almost without compare, but he was right that the BDO 'brand' is toxic. It is entirely toxic. It is toxic among darts fans, who are familiar with the almost endless streams of disastrous cock-ups made by those in change or involved in it. It is toxic among casual fans, who now simply view BDO darts as 'the rubbish one'. It is toxic among sponsors. No-one will touch it with a barge pole. And it is toxic with players, who now leave (or try to) by the dozen on a yearly basis. There is no money whatsoever to pay players, let alone employ anyone to turn things around, and in any event throwing more money at this would be a complete waste of precious funds (if any exist). It appears to have tied itself into contracts which cannot reasonably be upheld without causing further catastrophic financial losses. The organisation has proven itself completely unable to sustain itself, electing ill-qualified nobodies way above their station to add to the litany of appalling mistakes.
It needs to dissolve. If a replacement 'Phoenix' company forms in it's place, then there are lots and lots of tough decisions to make going forward, but none of those should concern Des, Paula or anyone else currently involved in the running of the BDO.

Nor should it involve Martin fucking Adams. Why some people see him as the saviour is absolutely baffling.

Re: If the BDO survives and someone new takes over.
It is remarkable, really. Not fifteen years ago the BDO held something of a nap-hand. They had pretty much all the best players, the PDC events were fringe competitions watched by a handful of darts fanatics out of mordant curiosity and to watch the best player in the world smash to ribbons all of the failed or faded BDO players who moved to make a few easy bob...and yet, here we are.
Anyone who has had an involvement in the demise of the BDO from that position of relative strength should be automatically barred from any role in any new organisation. Including Martin bloody Adams.
