You forget how good Whitlock was in his first year in the PDC.Zapp Brannigan wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 11:14 amAnd bunting who also made the quarters in his first yearGinge wrote:Aye lets ignore what Barney did thenKinsella wrote: No player has made such a colossal impact in their first year since switching.

Re: Glen Durrant
Great first year but he was never beating Taylor in that final. Lewis should have done better in the quarters but got full on deer in the headlights when he came up against feel.trotter01 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 11:25 amYou forget how good Whitlock was in his first year in the PDC.Zapp Brannigan wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 11:14 amAnd bunting who also made the quarters in his first yearGinge wrote:Aye lets ignore what Barney did thenKinsella wrote: No player has made such a colossal impact in their first year since switching.

Quite. He is still a total prick but you cant change what he did in those first 12 months.

Re: Glen Durrant
You cannot.. He came over as a hungry player wanting to enhance his great BDO achievements and he did that and more.. I would say that he was responsible for the extra massive growth in the PDC back then.. Helped to take the Premier League from halls to arenas.. The PDC owed a lot to Barney... Shame he turned into what he turned into and most definitely spoilt his legacy in my opinion

I agree with this, he was just about my favourite player in 2007 and definitely helped speed along the PDC revolution of darts. He comes across as complete bitter and twisted tool the past few years, maybe he feels he wasn’t rewarded enough for what he did but he seriously under achieved over the last decade so only himself to blame.trotter01 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 3:39 pmYou cannot.. Can’t argue with that. One of my favourite players and up to the last year or so I still said if Barney believes I believed because the guy had the game to beat anyone.
The problem was the head shaking, uninterested, back pocketed mess he became. Taylor’s greatest achievement has to be taking a guy that could beat him on the biggest stage and stick him so far in his back pocket it was embarrassing when they played.
Re: Glen Durrant
three years as world champion about to end?
Re: Glen Durrant
Remind us what he achieved, other than become world champion? Unless you’re saying this trumps everything?
Obviously he was shoe-horned into the premier league, hit a 9 darter I believe but did he win anything else? IIRC, he didn’t even qualify for the matchplay?
EDIT: he won the UK Open in 2006, fair enough then!
Re: Glen Durrant
Regardless of what he won it was his switching that pushed the PDC to a new level back then.. and sent the BDO into a further downward spiral... It was a huge turning point in darts.DavidB wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 9:02 pm

And again in 2007 after winning the Worlds, beating Taylor 11-4 along the way.DavidB wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 9:02 pm

Not a bad 17 months. 3 majors, a live 9 darter and a World Championship against the most dominant player in history.
But I'm sure Glen has done just as well....

Didn't know this

When did you first abuse Bo?
Re: Glen Durrant
I remember Glen met a certain member of this forum.
The member in question was so taken aback, his head started sweating profusely. Possibly out of fear. Possibly out of admiration.
I wonder who that member was?
