Yes it's interesting that a BDO player has breathed new life into the PDC.

Theres definitely some irony in the way that a female player is now the biggest marketing gimmick that sky and the pdc have got, given how derogatory the fanboys have spoken about the womens game over the years.

Like football fans (most of whom make up pdc crowds, lets face it), its very fickle stuff.

The only problem I've got with the Rise Of Fallon is that my missus (who can be a bit of a feminist when she wants to be) is now taking an interest in the darts as a result.

Which means I have to talk to her about it, and I could well do without that if I'm being honest.

There’s a narrative out there that the Sherrock phenomena just sort of dropped into the lap of the PDC and they ran with it. This ignores the fact that they planted seed of this by opening up the World Championship to women. Some might call it reaping what you sow (in a positive way).

Deta Hedman was a pointless answer on last night's show. Ladies darts is on the rise.

They opened up the World Championship, and then reinforced it with 2 places for women in the GSoD.

That was 11.5k and TV exposure for Ashton and Suzuki from the PDC in the 2018-2019 season.

What could they have done about this that would have stopped the PDC?

They could have allowed a lady in the BDO “men’s” (or whatever they have to call it) championship therefore if/when the PDC did it there would be less of an impact as it would have been done before.

Tricky granted, because of the ladies champs. Maybe allow the lady to play both? In tennis players often compete in singles and doubles. Tricky with scheduling but not impossible.

Missed the boat now.
