apparently massive interest around the world.

Bdo could have had a bit of this!
How could they Devo?
The BDO spent years crowing about the women’s game, while the women called for better prize money. At the same time both the players and the organisation clung like limpets to the travel club system which enabled some exceedingly inferior players to pollute the TV product Lakeside after Lakeside. The women wanted to be treated like professionals but didn’t want to make the necessary organisational changes required - i.e. cull the dross and focus on the elite players . Having the likes of Paula clogging the tournament with sub 70 averages made the event look terrible. Last 16 matches generally painful watching.
And therein lies the rub - Trina, Paula et al didn’t really want to advance the women’s game. They wanted to maintain their cosy cartel with an annual TV appearance as some kind of grotesque reward to sub standard players for attending jolly coach holiday tours together masquerading as tournaments all over Europe.

What could they have done about this that would have stopped the PDC?
They could have allowed a lady in the BDO “men’s” (or whatever they have to call it) championship therefore if/when the PDC did it there would be less of an impact as it would have been done before.

Tricky granted, because of the ladies champs. Maybe allow the lady to play both? In tennis players often compete in singles and doubles. Tricky with scheduling but not impossible.

Missed the boat now.
The amateur system has had men playing women for decades. Just not on tv.

If the BDO crowds controlled the result of games like the Ally Pally and PL crowds do, we would never hear the last of it.

Well done Fallon. I don't think the crowd were particularly hostile. Durrant is a well known bad loser. In the post match interview I thought he had soiled himself.

Durrant isn’t a bad loser at all. Odd thing to make up.

Edit: Ah, just looked at your post history.

Duzza was VERY sporting considering how the crowd were. I think he's resigned to the fact that if he wants to play PDC and make proper money (and be a cross-code champion), this is the kinda thing he has to put up with from time to time. But I've never seen him moan after a defeat.

Correct. Wears his heart on his sleeve but always gracious in defeat.

That crowd was nothing compared to the World Championship crowds.
The boos were just a wall of noise, without all the whistling and timing of the World Championship.
It was like the crowd was playing a part, rather than being committed.

Durrant just seems to be a nice person. If he isn't, he's very good at hiding it.

Nice piece. Goes to show it is not just Sky who are behind this. PDC had cameras in the pit and recorded pre-match clips so were planning this feature.

Are they?

The PDC held qualifiers, Lisa lost and Fallon and Suzuki won. Fallon then had a great run and voila here we are.

Are you suggesting that the PDC should have shoehorned Lisa into the limelight at the expense of someone who took their chance?
