You might be right but I wonder about the economic impact this will have on the players (can they get refunds?) and the organisers of the comps (could they go bust?).

Folks easily panic. Wonder if other comps cancel.

There is only 1 reported case in Holland and that was yesterday. :)

Anyway according to dartfreakz the probable reason is bankrupcy of the organiser.
Was going to be televised on NHSport.

Just as likely to get run over crossing the road, or catch a flu bug, its scaremongering in the extreme.

Hopefully this reduces holiday prices as the paranoid stay at home and the rest of us can crack on with life.

completely agree. But the problems become practical as you/me may have that approach - but it doesn't stop the fact that if you go off on holiday/travelling/ competing etc for a few days (as I am to Benidorm in a few weeks) and your resort gets an outbreak then there is a real risk you will either be stuck in the resort or have to come back and stay two weeks in a facility..! and your own opinion / thoughts will be irrelevant. And that's the risk, and that's why it will cause havoc for a few months yet (it will get worse)

Hard to replan these events this year
The PDC European Tour events scheduled for Leverkusen and Munich in the coming weeks will be postponed due to the Coronavirus epidemic.

Following a decision by the federal governments in North Rhine-Westphalia and Bavaria to prevent gatherings of over 1,000 people, the following European Tour events will now not take place as planned:
European Darts Open (ET3) - March 27-29 in Leverkusen
German Darts Grand Prix (ET4) - April 11-13 in Munich

The PDC are working with PDC Europe to schedule new dates for the events, with the possibility that other planned tournaments may move in the calendar to accommodate the rescheduled European Tour events.

Tickets already purchased for the events will remain valid for the equivalent session of the re-arranged event, or refunds will be available.

Players are advised not to book travel or accommodation for these European Tour events. The PDPA have also advised all players to check that they have appropriate travel insurance.

The PDPA can assist players with any queries relating to travel or accommodation bookings.

In addition to the two postponed events, PDC Europe remain in dialogue with the venue and local authorities in Sindelfingen regarding the forthcoming European Darts Grand Prix, which is planned to take place from March 20-22.

The planned opening three weekends of the 2020 PDC Asian Tour have already been cancelled due to the Coronavirus epidemic, with the season now set to begin in May with events in Seoul and Kobe.

NOTE: At present, the Tour Card Holder Qualifiers for ET3&4 are expected to be played as planned in Barnsley on Friday March 13.

Erh? They’re still having a qualifier for an event that is cancelled?? I guess they can be re-scheduled if there’s room in an already tight calendar...

Waites qualified for ET2 correct? That’s still taking place?

Absolutely.

Putting safety concerns first, when we have a potential pandemic on our hands is indeed pathetic.
So explain why Cheltenham went ahead with over 50k people today. Or why all football games in the UK will be played tonight with a crowd in.

Ridiculous reaction by the Germans.

As I am neither a doctor, nor represent a government medical agency, I cannot answer your question with any degree of knowledgeability.

For me, I am more than happy to go along with any restrictions put in place by those who are charged with ensuring that Coronavirus is controlled as best they can.

Isle of Man Open going ahead this weekend (?) with hundreds of people from various places, plus spectators. Are you going to have a go at TT for not cancelling, hmm? Be consistent please.

We are in the same position Italy was in 2 weeks ago. A country that has now basically gone into lockdown.

It takes around 1-2 weeks to incubate from initial infection.....

UK won't be far behind I'm sure. Right off to the bar to watch Valencia match in an empty stadium :)

I saw a sign outside the bar in Spain the other day it read:
" Esta Prohibido el uso de gel desinfectante y mascarillas!!
Aqui se viene a morir como heroes con la copa de vino o la cerveza en la mano!!"

"The use of disinfectant gel and masks is prohibited!
Here we come to die as heroes with the glass of wine or beer in our hand!!"

Not at all. The panic buying IS pathetic. It doesnt have to be one extreme or the other though.
