In light of todays announcement, surely the PDC need to drop Betway as a sponsor.

I know some think all betting firms should be booted out (legislation eventually may mean all sports have to do that) but this outfit are something else.

Folk can have double standards re their opinion when something goes wrong, re which org it is.

But the BDO get a one man show who has runners in betting shops, and this is as bad as the PDC going with this betting company.

Theres always been hypocrisy about darts sponsors from some folk on this forum.

I got torn apart for criticising the PDCs partnership with viagogo years ago. With comments like "oh well that's capitalism" when I highlighted their dreadful practices. Only when the PDC ditched them and it started coming out in the news did fanboys start acknowledging it.

Darts can't have a moral compass about sponsorship when it took the Tobacco coin for as long as it possibly could.
And funnily enough I used to work at Imperial Tobacco when it sponsored Snooker and darts...

The PDC currently partner with moneybarn who they actively promote on social media. An insidious predatory company (35% apr) who were heavily fined a month or so ago.

Although betway (or beltway as he originally posted) are bad, imo these guys are even worse.

Theres no moral high ground to be had here. The pdc actively promote them since the fine and compensation payments and that's pathetic.

Morally it’s reprehensible. However the reality is sports sponsorship is a cut throat business. Ultimately if any sport were to stick to purely “ethical” companies players would be soon competing for coppers in the “Torquay Fairtrade Mungbean Social Enterprise Trophy” for coppers and a years supply of falafel.
