Its clearly what you meant to be fair.

Unless you know the specific restaurant I had chosen was going to shut down, which you possibly cant know.
It bloody well wasnt. I am guessing that virtually every restaurant will have shut by Friday by their own accord. It's not rocket science and your track record so far on this virus hasnt exactly been spot on.
Will they buggery. Plenty of people will be cracking on. Even Spacey is above. Going to have a moan at him?
I dont blame him for going in those circumstances, and for a few days restaurants will soldier on. But the economics of having to buy in the ingredients and staff with fewer and fewer bookings will catch up very soon.
This is moving faster than you have thought every step.

The last half dozen or so posts here illustrate exactly why this stuff will have to be mandated.

Yeah, apparently they do have enough laws in place to order it, just been listening to a debate on TV. But they will only do it if people dont go along with the guidance.

Aye.

We already have examples of what happens when life goes on as normal and also the huge changes once lockdowns are in effect. The more that people add non essential trips, the longer this whole thing will last.

Over here all restaurants have stopped dine-in but do offer take away and delivery so there is scope to support the local businesses without magnifying the risk.

My own conscience is keeping me from all but essential trips as whilst I am unlikely to be snuffed out, I would hate to have any shared responsibility in someone vulnerable getting it who may struggle (thinking of my mum who's just come out of hospital for instance).

The numbers are hardly overwhelming but I'll do what I can to keep it that way even if it is an inconvenience.

Alan as always sums it up for me:

If you like. I pay £50 to a charity of your choice if I dont have a table in a restaurant in town on Friday evening. You pay the equivalent in Euros (or in pounds, whatever is easier for you) if I do to a charity of my choosing. Deal?

Excellent. Pictorial evidence along with proof of the date will be posted in the Tea thread on Friday evening.

You idiot,he has just broadened out the bet to effectively include any restaurant in his city (Sheffield?) . He only has to find one now.

To be fair to Ginge he is good at finding customers for his mug bets.

The reason why this is suggested rather than mandated is because it protects insurance companies. This is the scum you voted in so you could get your Brexit done.

He has history for reneging on forum bets too. He will probably deck out his living room to look like a restaurant and dress his pal up as a waiter.
