- Why on earth are Dave Allen, Matt Porter and Ed Lowy in that list above?
Because now that the BDO is gone, it makes sense to discuss how to go forward.
You can't say that yet, people will get upset.

If you can answer this question but where do the PDC stand on makes of board used by anything affiliated to them ?
Is everything associated with the PDC bound to Unicorn boards ?

What a ridiculous question, not exactly top of the priority list would you think?

PDC possibly talking to WDF and whatever this. If they can financially support them some money for them not to have another world champ they get what they want.

The BDO are all but gone. With Des going when he has there are already few wanting to take over if any. With Coronavirus they can't have a meeting to replace him. The BDO has no one doing anything for it. With Des going also indicates that none of his sponsors would ever come to fruition.

On that basis the Tri and WDF can create what they want and call them the same. They are all the same side of darts etc etc.

It is interesting that Tommy still talks about our side of the darts though. Nothing particularly unified in what he says which makes some of my thoughts not quite stack up.

However if the PDC can get rid of the other side's world champs they may be happy to let them be and even financially support them. As we all know they still need some sort of grass roots darts going around.

"We will not be extending the company towards managing/organising World events"

Sensible I suppose. Clearly letting the WDF pick up those pieces.

Still don't see why the PDC should be consulted, they cant even be arsed to schedule CT/DT weekends away from county weekend dates as it is. Surely doing so benefits BOTH parties.

Maybe they will in future. Your looking at the past. Maybe just maybe and a lot of hoping they will talk together to create a unified calender.
Question would be where do the likes of IOM Open Scottish Open England Open fit alongside CT. Do they it don't they?

Would be nice to see those events keep the open element organised by home nations. Closed to tour card holders and winnings appear on the CT oom. Other big events such as Dutch could work as well

Not really as any new initiative in darts is dead in the water without some kind of alignment to the professional game and if it is the case that to be affiliated to the PDC you also use their approved boards it makes talking to other board manufacturers pointless.

You also run the risk of upsetting your existing board sponsors for other 'events' or 'bodies' if you are seeking any form of deal with alienates them from it.

However I suspect Tommy Thompson and others have found all this out before and considered it all in the 3 mins it took to type up their statement of intention.

The pure grass roots of darts ie pub darts problems don't come from mismanagement of the BDO. It's problems is the disappearing number of darts boards in pubs etc lesser numbers playing etc the JDC address this problem by providing a means or way for kids to play and thu funnel into the adult side of darts at a later stage.

The amateur side of darts problems aren't going to be fixed by a load of old has beens who have been knocking about for years in the system they are now hoping to replace. Replacing the BDO with a new body that does exactly or roughly the same as the BDO isn't going to lead to a path of unlimited prosperity it's just going to lead to the same old county stuff and the same old problems til the next lot of old duffers come along and start another board to take over and do the same. The whole county system needs a total radical overhaul in order to survive. Anyone now who would of been a decent county player is either on the PDC tour or playing the challenge tour. The public don't care about county any more and really why should they ? What does winning or playing for your county now mean ? Sweet FA that's all

Barry Hearn said more than once the BDO's use of the word professional was a problem for the PDC.

So, if the BDO is dead, and the bodies that take its place agree not to use the word professional, I have no doubt that the PDC will be helping those organisations.

Given the many England Darts Selsey events, the Welsh Open and the Scottish Open, I don't see why handling the Gold Cup would be a problem for the new Tri-nation group that takes over the BICC.

Working with the PDC should help is in establishing the replacement WDF global events, and in defining a clear and integrated path between amateur and professional darts, including the PDC Challenge Tour and WDF majors and rankings.

I dont see the harm with them trying to take it over. They have made it very clear they are not doing the big events which is what has crippled the BDO in the end.
