World number one Michael van Gerwen and reigning World Champion Peter Wright will headline the field for the 2020 World Series Finals, set to take place in Salzburg, Austria, on September 18-20.

The 24-player tournament, hosted at the Salzburgarena, will see eight seeded players competing against 12 invited stars and four qualifiers from the PDC’s 128 tour card holders.

Joining Van Gerwen and Wright as the seeded players will be Gerwyn Price, Michael Smith, Rob Cross, Nathan Aspinall, Daryl Gurney and Gary Anderson.

Newly crowned World Matchplay champion Dimitri Van den Bergh is amongst the invitees, alongside James Wade, Dave Chisnall, Ian White, Mensur Suljovic, Fallon Sherrock, Simon Whitlock, Damon Heta, Kyle Anderson, Cody Harris, Jeff Smith and Darius Labanauskas.

The qualifier for the remaining four places will precede the freshly announced PDC Autumn Series on September 11 at Halle 39 in Hildesheim, Germany.

Coverage will be broadcast live on ITV4 in the UK, on PDCTV-HD for Rest of the World Subscribers and through the PDC's worldwide broadcast partners including DAZN and RTL7.

Surely Durrant and Ratajski are even more deserving...

The invitees are all the people who were previously invited to the cancelled World Series events.

Didn't even realise Ratty wasn't in it. Bit of a joke really also Leung as the only Asian tour card holder deserves a place especially over Harris
Leung is unlucky in the sense that it seems the Asian WS event organisers (especially whoever was involved in the Shanghai event) seem unable to organise a piss-up in a brewery

That is not correct from what I’ve read on Twitter.

Why organising an event nobody cares about at all with players coming from all over the world in such difficult times. Surely they could have used this weekend for a more meaningfull purpose.

OK, a bunch of the invitees are people who were invited, or would have been invited or competing as local players.

That's Sherrock and Smith in NY, Whitlock, Heta and Anderson in Australia, Harris in New Zealand and Labanauskas in Denmark.
The others are all players in the Top 16, with several of them being players who aren't in the Premier League and Suljovic being more local.

So, it's not the PDC doing any weird cherry-picking.

Kyle Anderson has withdrawn from the World Series of Darts Finals, and will be replaced in the 24-player field for next month's event by Glen Durrant.

Former Auckland Darts Masters champion Anderson was one of the 12 invited players for the tournament, which will be held from September 18-20 at the Salzburgarena.

However, the Australian ace has withdrawn for personal reasons and will be replaced by Durrant, who is the highest-placed player from the PDC Order of Merit not currently in the event.

The final four places in the event will go to players from a Tour Card Holder's Qualifier on Friday September 11 in Hildesheim.

Session times have now been confirmed for the event, as detailed below.

Coverage will be broadcast on ITV4 in the UK, on PDCTV for Rest of the World Subscribers and through the PDC's worldwide broadcast partners including DAZN and RTL7.

Tickets for the 2020 World Series of Darts Finals will available to purchase from Monday August 17.

Is this going ahead with a real live audience?
If not, the PDC would probably have to insert massive booing into the artificial crowd noise for just one player in a few games (at least if they want Sharon Frog to win one).

They don't seem to mention that in the communications. So I guess the answer is no.

This is from the PDC Europe site.
The hygiene and safety concept for the World Series of Darts Finals includes the division of spectators into four separate sectors. The entrance will be separated in time and space. Tickets will be given to only one buyer per table and visitor group to ensure that there will not be more than one group sitting at one table. For each table the price consists of a table fee and a price per spectator.

Table fee
Friday Interior front: 99,- € / interior rear: 79,- €
Saturday Interior front: 129,- € / Interior rear: 99,- €
Sunday afternoon Interior front: 99,- € / interior rear: 79,- €
Sunday evening Interior front: 129,- € / interior rear: 99,- €

Prices per seat
vary from 15,90 € – 19,90 €.

We ask for your understanding for this new pricing strategy, which will be more expensive for smaller groups, but will result in a 15-20% reduction in comparison to the old prices if the table is sold out.

Up to eight people are allowed per table and visitor group. Please buy all tickets for the group you want to participate with at once in your purchase process. In addition, masks will be mandatory in the entire venue (except at the seat) and hands must be disinfected immediately after admission. Furthermore, carnival costumes and fan chants must be avoided.

They didn't say that that they can't cheer Suljovic, whistle at Suljovic's opponents or boo Price.

It's just cutting back on the shouting and movement. It'll obviously negatively impact the atmosphere, but I'm sure the players will still prefer the feedback, and it'll be better to watch than the fake crowd tournaments.
