Any questions about magic weekend please ask away.
I can answer what I can.
6 A games and 6 B games each day?
Going to be carnage.
Let me guess. Bunn Leisure, Selsea? Pontins, Brean Sands?
18 boards running at a time. Whole A or B team playing at the same time.
Match completed in 30mins max (Premier/Championship)
12pm start. Full division done in 3hrs.
All done and dusted for 7pm with every team having played 1 game and 2 division's done.
Can't see what's the carnage in that.
And the venue more than big enough for 1000 people.
And on the Saturday night, Few MAD belts/titles up for grabs for the UKDA top ranked (averages after 9 games) Men and Ladies in England and Wales.
Who would fund the prize for the MAD belts when it looks like many don’t actually want them?
The prize fund is a % of the money paid as entry fee by the contenders.
Given so few contenders stumping up the cash the prize fund the champion will get for defending will be minute.
Remember only the champion gets any cash. A contender has to win a belt and then defend to get anything.

Which is why I don’t understand the comment about MAD belts being up for grabs for UKDA top ranked players. There is no guarantee that they will want to stump up the cash. So if this is the plan, assuming that this has been talked about and Bag Carrier isn’t just making things up, who is going to fund the prize pot? Thought the title holder always got a choice as to who and how it was defended?

Original they said the champion could pick their opponent for two defences and only at the third defence could MAD pick the opponent.
However that was with the business model where the challenger stumped up the £2k plus purse for no regard unless they win.
Obviously they had no takers with that approach hence now changed to having an paid event were all entrants pay the £60 to enter. However they only accepted 12 entrants for that so the entry fees are well below the promised champions fee.
Seems they will need to cut the payout or massively subsidise it. Sounds like the BDO doesn’t it.
MAD darts will be sorting all financial issues out with the challenge for the MAD titles at the Magic Weekend.
We are in partnership and its a give and take from both sides, They will be gaining members from UKDA SL and in return they are offering SL/NL players the chances to win titles/belts through just playing there normal NL games for who they represent.
With the UKDA not being able to offer our members anything WDF related, We had to look at alternative avenues for our members and what MAD are doing fits in perfectly for our members for them to have the chance to progress from SL and NL.
There is a lot more in the pipeline for the Men and Women, This is just the start of things.
One more deal already sorted is the Singles Winners from the National Singles both gaining a place in a MAD major event in 2022.

Is the reason you are not working with WDF a one-off due to the lack of WDF tournaments at the moment, or is it because they don't want to work with you?

Will the fix for MADs financial issues be a long term solution or just for the magic weekend? What about the months before that weekend?
They are in a precarious position reputationally at present given they directly attacked the organisation of amateur darts at the time of their formation (and everything that comes along with that including slashed prize money at the o2).
If they under deliver their stated prize money, confidence will rapidly fade and few will be incentivised to 'pay to play' in the future.
The current impression they give is that of being far too optimistic about how interested people are to put money into the system they are operating. They are also coming over as quite defensive on social media which isn't helping. If they fall short of the 1400 quid, especially for warren given his history, they are going to hear it from all quarters.

Have to agree with this post.
They have simply tried to do far too much, far too quickly.

WDF only deal with countries. EDO is the recognised company representing England under the WDF banner.
So we can't deal with the WDF, So that is why we sought other playing avenues for our members

Fair enough It's just that you opened your post confidently stating that mad will be sorting out ALL of their financial issues.
A statement like that is all the better for some clarification. As it stands this sounds an awful lot like 'we have sponsors lined up but we can't give you details'.
If you aren't able or prepared to share details, maybe don't make the statement in the first place?

It’s the amateur way, what do you expect.

God rest Alf Garnett and Prince Phil.

Maybe I should have worded it better. What I am saying is that it's MAD that will sort all the finance side of things for the event in Magic Weekend as its there event that is separate from National League games.
I am confident that if there is any money to be paid, it will be what is told is being paid.
What it actually is, I could not comment ad I don't know.

Thanks for clarifying and that certainly makes sense. Cheers BC.
Looks like someone has thrown their toys out of the pram and as a result are suggesting that they re-invent the wheel. The darts on that side of things haven't even restarted yet and the squabbling has begun.
