PDC World Cup of Darts- Jena- September 9th-12th 2021

Post by ssjsa »

The 2021 World Cup of Darts will be staged at the Sparkassen-Arena in Jena, Germany from September 9-12.

The 32-nation tournament sees two-player teams representing their countries across four days in a combination of Doubles and Singles contests, with Wales having claimed glory for the first time in last year’s World Cup.

This year's tournament will return to Germany – after taking place in Salzburg last November – to be staged in front of the Sky Sports cameras in Jena, with the Sparkassen-Arena having previously hosted the PDC’s European Tour in 2017.

Tickets details will be confirmed by PDC Europe in due course, subject to announcements from the German government regarding crowds attending sporting events.

The World Cup of Darts will be televised on Sky Sports, through the PDC's international broadcast partners including RTL7 and DAZN, on PDCTV for Rest of the World Subscribers and on matchroom.live.

I know this is neither a major or a "serious" event, but I rather enjoy it.

It would be better if they dropped the singles events

better if it wasn't a pairs tournament. Lots of countries can now provide decent teams of 3 or 4

I only find the early stages interesting. The rest of the time is spent hoping that the losing finalists don't carry a non-entity to the Grand Slam.

When you go to 3, the standard drops off _very_ quickly.

England and Netherlands have depth.

England: Wade, Smith, Aspinall
Netherlands: van Gerwen, van Duijvenbode, de Zwaan

Wales: Price, Clayton, Kenny
Scotland: Wright, Anderson, Henderson
Northern Ireland: Gurney, Dolan, Mansell
Ireland: O'Connor, Lennon, Teehan (Barry could overtake him by then)
Belgium: Van den Bergh, Huybrechts, de Vos
Germany: Clemens, Hopp, Schindler
Australia: Whitlock, Heta, Mathers
Poland: Ratajski, Kciuk, ?

I have mentioned B sides before, and I am surprised (very) they havent used the opportunity to get a womens team in on that basis.

Which 4 teams do you not have in? Italy would be one, but all other countries have a PDC card holder, host a euro or World Series event or would probably be classed as a growth market.

why should some countries get the advantage of 2 teams

That is about as retarded as asking for a womens team in a game and comp run by an org that is unisex.

It's an exhibition tournament for promotion of darts (apart from the GSOD places) so "advantage" doesn't come into it.

Does it help promote darts to have B teams for the top nations? No.

Would it help promote darts to have a women's team? No. Wrong tournament.

It doesn't particularly promote darts though does it? Giving the lesser countries a spot in this and then putting one player from that country into the world championship is never going to produce decent players.

If the end game is a true world tour, then they'd need to subsidise the best players from abroad to enable them to play the tour full-time. I don't know why they can't have an Asian and North American qualifier for the Euro Tour events. They have regional sub-tours, so why isn't the top player in the standings at the end of the season being rewarded with a Tour Card?

which part of the word unisex are you struggling to understand.

If the game is unisex, why would there be the need for a womens team ?

And why should countries like england have 2 teams, would that happen in football , rugby etc?
You are spouting nonsense
