Yes, they're playing. It could potentially be relevant if Covid were to hit the Challenge Tour and they needed to use Q School positions for PCs.
Q School 2022
Re: Q School 2022
Re: Q School 2022
Wilkinson just started his game against Rafferty with a 51.40 average leg. Maybe he's feeling the need to win legs.
2-0 down. Needs 4 legs to stay ahead of Budgen and Dennant.
Back to 2-2.
4-3 Rafferty, Wilkinson had 1 dart, it seems.
4-4 Wilkinson couldn't take out 64, but Rafferty misses 28, and Wilkinson cleans up.
Dennant doesn't get a tour card. The world is saved.
Evetts comfortably beat Gillet.
Edgar hit a 100 average in a 6-2 win over Portela, so Edgar now 4+16.
Rafferty completes a 6-4 win over Wilkinson and secures his card.
Wilkinson drops to 5+14,
Rock wins 6-4 over Day, going to 5+20.
So Budgen out and Wilkinson on the bubble.
Edgar needs to beat Rafferty and then not lose big in the final in order to regain his card.

Agreed, it's lunacy.Garry Murphy wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 3:31 pm Sherrock finishes 94th and now people want to see Q-school altered......who could have seen that coming
I bet the idiots suggesting there's something wrong because Sherrock kept losing darts matches haven't suggested a format that could help her get a card.
Re: Q School 2022
I like Q School, but I'd argue there should be 16 more cards offered with so many good players out there. More cards should be offered via the secondary / regional tours.
I think they may give the women's tour winner a card this season.

Re: Q School 2022
Are you suggesting the players ranked 49-64 (after 2 years) lose their cards?
By that logic World Cup winner Hendo would have been at Q School.
The line has to be drawn somewhere and many of those gaining cards today will struggle let alone those finishing further down the QSOOM.
Re: Q School 2022
No I'm saying there should be up to 1 prelim match per board in each Pro Tour event and 144 tour card holders. Top ups only if there's less than 128.Antony Harboyle-Degg wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 7:46 pmAre you suggesting the players ranked 49-64 (after 2 years) lose their cards?

Re: Q School 2022
Congrats to Crewe's Shaun Wilkinson on his card.
Capable of brilliance in short bursts but will need to up his consistency long term to keep his card.
Showed good bottle this week though with several 6-5 wins.

Q School is a money grab, plain and simple. Nothing to do with identifying the best players,

All those bottom players would have to do to earn some money is win 2 games.Dannyboy wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 7:54 pmNo I'm saying there should be up to 1 prelim match per board in each Pro Tour event and 144 tour card holders. Pretty much. It cannot really be said or proven that it is entirely bad, so there isn't a pressing case to get rid of it, but there is no doubt that the principal benefit of it is in the money it generates.waddle147 wrote:Q School is a money grab, plain and simple. There must be a better way of identifying the best players deserving of joining the main tour outside of a one-week, shit or bust comp held once a year. There are sufficient numbers on the Challenge Tour now that you'd imagine they could use that as a proper feeder tour of they wanted to, and it would probably be fairer, but doing it this way generates so much dosh that there is no appetite for change at all.

Re: Q School 2022
Think the CT sud be the same as the Pt
128 players same amount of weekends then top 16 in CT move up to the PT with the bottom 16 moving down.
Can still have A Qschool for 16 places on the CT with the bottom 16 dropping out

Re: Q School 2022
This will only work if the PDC decide that they would quite like to earn £250k less from Q School than they do right now.

They should have upped the tour card numbers once entry fees was scrapped. 128 seems very little when 500 are turning up to Q School.
An extra 16 matches adds about half an hour to the pro tour, when it already ends early enough to have 2 events per day.

Re: Q School 2022
Nick Fullwell sets a new record for longest time between losing his card and regaining it. Fullwell was absent from the tour for 8 years 2014-2021, beating Marko Kantele who was absent for 7 years 2012-2018.
