I know this is on when the matchplay is on (so is tagging onto the men somewhat) but the afternoon session is only ladies. So everyone who is there will have gone to watch ladies darts.

Spoke to Paul James and hopefully Deta will be there and also Paul.

After tonight the PDC will want Beau Greaves to be in this.

Will post updates from the event itself.

Any other posters, viewers, going?
To watch ladies darts?
Fuck off
Thinking about it: is the 1st ever stand alone ladies event? I mean have the BDO or wdf ever run a major ladies event that hasn't been tagged onto a men's event?

If it is then the PDC are breaking ground once again.
I might be being thick, but in what sense is the PDC Ladies Matchplay, played in an empty session during the men's World Matchplay, not being tagged on to a men's event? You said it yourself earlier in the thread! As opposed to the WDF World Championship, where the women's event is played throughout the tournament, ie not tagged on to the men's event - give your head a shake!!

The PDC are real trailblazers with womens darts. Almost 30 years after their inception and 50 years after the WDF was founded they set up some women's comps because a thin blonde lass opened up a new money making path for them by embarrassing some professionals.

Such visionaries.

They had the great vision to realize that COVID restrictions had killed amateur darts and exhibitions so the womaen they cared so much about waseren't getting playing time or money.

And then, they quickly increased it to 3 weekends, and then 5 when they realized it didn't offer enough support to the player...s.

Limited tickets available. Though that may be PDC hype!

Will give a honest assessment if the crowd when I am there.
Not sure where you can see there are limited tickets available as there are literally hundreds.

Surely any venue with a maximum capacity has only a limited number of tickets?

While definitely tacked on, it's tacked on, not weaved in. The paying spectators will just be paying for women's darts, so it's a useful gauge for the PDC of commercial viability.

I'll be interested to see their promotional blurb for the next Women's Series weekend.

I agree with 1205: it's a gauge for the PDC.

It's in a good venue. Lots of darts fans around. Summer time. The top players. And all done in one session.

If ticket sales are very poor (not crowd attendance, they might fill with freebies offered during the evening men's sessions) then it could be a set back.

Let's see. But as said: all who buy a ticket are doing so to watch ladies darts.

I reckon it will do well in the sales. Fallon factor will be a benefit. PDC hoping for Beau Greaves to enter the womens series at the end of the month. Potenial for Fallon or Lisa vs Beau. The other 5 are making up the numbers really

It's a very limited gauge.

The Matchplay and the venue is iconic and on every darts fans to-do list.

Therefore it stands to reason that it doesn't offer any meaningful insight into how PDC women's darts would do if it stood alone.

I’d say the last thing they want is beau entering

They have spent the past few years bigging up Fallon they won’t want that threatened

But if it is a total flop, even being here with the matchplay on, surely that's going to show there actually is little interest in ladies dart?

The very fact that this is the best chance of a session of women's-only darts being a commercial success provides meaningful insight.
Until this is successful, nothing more expansive will be.
Number of sales, rate of sales, and the demographics will also be valuable.
