Thanks Oche. Someone already updated the wiki page to remove them.

To be honest, it’s a rubbish format, but with so many players wanting to get a card (nearly 1000 PDPA members) there probably isn’t a great alternative.

I’d argue there should be more places direct from the challenge tour… at least 8. And then Q School qualifies people for the CT rather than the Main Tour direct.

What number would you limit the Challenge Tour to? Not sure it makes sense to charge players hundreds of pounds and then stop them from playing on the Challenge Tour if they don't finish in the top 'x'. Just do away with Q-School, charge anyone who wants to play on the Challenge Tour the fee, and then pick however many you need to top up the tour cards from the CT Order of Merit.

I would have 17 Challenge Tour cards this year The other 10 on Q School. (Winner of each day, Plus whoever tops the table).

Challenge tour could be Top 64 from the table (1-65 of both) the rest will have to be reserves. of course this could be harsh on a lot of people.

Wouldn't be surprised to see this increasing. And dare I say 1 or 3 from the Ladies tour OOM.

I agree about more cards from the Challenge Tour, and it's a nice idea in principle to require Challenge Tour, but the Challenge Tour money is poor and the format is a horrible grind.

An implication of no direct qualification from Q School is that players losing their cards would have a minimum year on the CT.

At minimum requires more money on the CT and a reduction in tour cards so there's more top-ups in PCs. Also again having ET qualification top-ups.

US PGA Tour requires everybody to go through Challenge Tour and top 30 get a card, but it's $1 million minimum prize fund per event so players on the Challenge Tour can make a good living.

Can't see the PDC putting up the prize funds for the Challenge Tour.

Top two should get one, as with CT and DT.

I see on facebook Conan Whitehead has changed tack - last night he said he wasn't going to play the Challenge Tour as it was too soon after Q School and also not cost effective, but this morning after talking to some people he has decided he will play it after all.

I'm guessing someone told him the pro tour reserves came from the CT OOM list now, not the Q School list.

Porter has made it clear no for the WS. He said in interview they see WS as preparation for DT and CT, not an alternative.

They are doing so this season.

But there should be 20 events x £25K of prize money plus a finals to give an Ally Pally place.

I would offer 128 Challenge Tour cards with missing players filled up with top ups. Relegated players and those who qualify for the Worlds get an automatic place.

CT Prize money changes
Round20232022*
Winner£2,500£2,000
Runner-up£1,000£1,000

Quarter-finalists£500£300
Last 16£300£200
Last 32£200£100
Last 64£75£50
Only losing a final didn't change in amount. There's significant implication for rankings, as there is much more reward for consistency, and losing a final is worse.

The challenge tour didn't exist in 2002, so it can be inferred that is supposed to say 2022
