Tony Eccles
Re: Tony Eccles
I read that he was too ill to stand trial and would be done later.

I stand corrected, thought I'd read that they were not pursuing a convictionChrisW wrote:I read that he was too ill to stand trial and would be done later.

7 witnesses that put tony elsewhere when some of these allegations wer meant to have taken place Dave.

On reflection you might be right.spaceman70 wrote:Don't think he meant jury members at all.
The jury didnt buy there stories though.
Whatever way you look at this, its bad news all round.
Re: Tony Eccles
They would presumably include character witnesses etc but it is very unlikely any of them would have been in a position to refute the evidence presented.spaceman70 wrote:Don't think he meant jury members at all.
Re: Tony Eccles
one of the interesting things I read on fb was that she claimed he picked her up in his car and back then he didn't drive or own a car, not sure how true that is maybe someone knows.?spaceman70 wrote:Don't think he meant jury members at all.

What evidence? From what I've read she said he did and he said he didn't, no evidence as such just wordsMurphio wrote:They would presumably include character witnesses etc but it is very unlikely any of them would have been in a position to refute the evidence presented.spaceman70 wrote:Don't think he meant jury members at all.

One or two on here saying its his word against hers, wake up ! If that was that was the case he wouldnt be banged up.
The courts cannot convict a man without evidence its that simple.
Why would any self respecting woman/person want to drag themselves and or an innocent man through the courts i f there is no truth ?
Unless Eccles was the secret millionaire and declared that to her i doubt she would have any reason to tell porkies.

Re: Tony Eccles
Sworn testimony is still evidence. It then comes down to basically who is believed by the jury. It might appear harsh to be convicted on that basis alone but by the same token few (if any) abusers would get convicted for historical sex crimes against children and minors if there was evidence other than their word required. The question in relation to the 'victim' being called a liar is what they have to gain in lying? Tony Eccles' defence argued she was jealous of his profile as a darts player. Eh, what? That is a pretty flimsy defence. He has been found guilty by a jury and he deserves to go to prison for a very long time.nikkiboy wrote:What evidence? Well, if that's the reason, then there must be a lot of darts players sweating at the moment. Pathetic excuse.Murphio wrote:Sworn testimony is still evidence. Are you telling me there are no innocent men or women banged up in prisons in Britain or around the uk?

What evidence had they got to convict Eccles? Was it not simply a case of his word against hers?
Why would any self respecting woman/person
So you know shes a self respecting woman then?
want to drag themselves and or an innocent man through the courts i f there is no truth ?

Doubt... We don't know her, so we can not judge on that. A lot of your post is purely speculation, cant convict a man on that.
Re: Tony Eccles
Also once she made the accusation she faced a possible prison sentence herself for perverting the course of justice .Dicie wrote:STEVE M wrote:One or two on here saying its his word against hers, wake up ! If that was that was the case he wouldnt be banged up.
