one of the interesting things I read on fb was that she claimed he picked her up in his car and back then he didn't drive or own a car, not sure how true that is maybe someone knows.?

The courts cannot convict a man without evidence its that simple.
Why would any self respecting woman/person want to drag themselves and or an innocent man through the courts i f there is no truth ?
Unless Eccles was the secret millionaire and declared that to her i doubt she would have any reason to tell porkies.

Sworn testimony is still evidence. It then comes down to basically who is believed by the jury. It might appear harsh to be convicted on that basis alone but by the same token few (if any) abusers would get convicted for historical sex crimes against children and minors if there was evidence other than their word required. The question in relation to the 'victim' being called a liar is what they have to gain in lying? Tony Eccles' defence argued she was jealous of his profile as a darts player. Eh, what? That is a pretty flimsy defence. He has been found guilty by a jury and he deserves to go to prison for a very long time.

Also once she made the accusation she faced a possible prison sentence herself for perverting the course of justice .
