World Series of Darts 2017- Discussion
Re: World Series of Darts 2016 - Discussion
Dunno if this has been mentioned but this popped up on the PDC website yesterday:

Play starting at 9pm BST each day, or 1pm local time, which is odd. None of the other World Series events are played in the afternoon local time...

Live on TV in the UK then with those timings?
Re: World Series of Darts 2016 - Discussion
Could just be because its going to be over 40 degrees C outside at that time of day with no cloud cover so better to be indoors watching a pub game in the afternoon rather than the evening.markymark wrote:Live on TV in the UK then with those timings?
They used to start at 11am for TV when it was the LVDC, so doubt its specifically because of that.

On another note, I see the PDC are forcing the US/Canadian darters to stay in the Tropicana if they want to play in the event, and has to be booked through them.
Just found the same hotel for £118 online (€148) so someone is on the skim. Much cheaper rooms available up the Strip and just off it, too. Even the Excalibur over the road is £87 for the two nights ($110)....
Cheapest room cost 2 x $85 (total $170) on July 10th and 11th.All players who enter the qualifiers must be resident at the Tropicana for the nights of July 10 and 11. Is the Jacklin Corp co-promoting this?

I thought this would soon turn into a tripadvisor style thread.
Re: World Series of Darts 2016 - Discussion
With play starting at 9pm our time be poor if this event was not shown live
Re: RE: Re: World Series of Darts 2016 - Discussion
Why? These events are not aimed at the UK audiences.foggs3355 wrote:With play starting at 9pm our time be poor if this event was not shown live

if they was doing that would the session time not be 6pm to 10pm
Re: RE: Re: World Series of Darts 2016 - Discussion
I would much rather be watching darts in a lovely air conditioned room in the daytime (Vegas goes above 40c that time of year) and then go out and enjoy myself at night when the sun goes down, that is the obvious reason to my mind why they have done it. I have been in September and it was 43 degrees!foggs3355 wrote:Ginge wrote:Why? If it was solely timed for European TV it would be an 11am local start, and not 1pm. Vegas is eight hours behind the UK/Ireland/Portugal and nine behind the rest of western Europe.

Re: World Series of Darts 2016 - Discussion
How many of the top 8 in the PDC are going to go on a 10 hour flight to Las Vegas, the week before the World Matchplay, in the middle of the summer with a load of other trips to come later in the summer, for a $25k top prize when many of them cant be arsed to nip across to Europe a few times a year for a £25k top prize that is included in the rankings?

A HUGE $160,700 in prize money will be on offer in the PDC World Series of Darts Festival in Las Vegas in July 2017, with four qualifying events giving a huge opportunity for north American players to take on the world's biggest names.
