Michael van Gerwen showed at the end of November that he is getting back to his best just in time for the World Championship, where he hopes to win his fourth world title.

Van Gerwen came closer and closer to his old form in the autumn, but was beaten by an excellent opponent (twice Simon Whitlock and once Ian White) during the World Grand Prix, European Championship and Grand Slam of Darts. The puzzle pieces fell together at the Players Championship Finals, as he claimed his first major title since March.

An estimation of Van Gerwens bid for glory, 9/4 on the table, I would advise to take it now as it will be risky leaving it until later on.

Kim Huybrechts is one of the three Belgians who will appear at the PDC World Darts Championship next week. Dartsnews.com gauged his expectations.

For Huybrechts this is already the tenth consecutive World Championship in which he participates.

“Whether it's my first tournament or my 100th, I am always quite nervous. During the matches, it is usually not too bad, but when it goes all the way to the end, everyone has that adrenaline I think."

Cameron Carolissen is one of 20 debutants set for their debut at this year’s PDC World Darts Championship with ‘The Javelin’ coming through a tough field at the African Qualifier.

The 24-year old defeated Charles Losper in the final who has previously competed twice at the Alexandra Palace as well as the likes of Masande Mgedeza and Graham Filby in a tough draw but he pinned 112 to win through 7-4.

He caught up with DartsNews this past week to discuss the Qualifier and the confidence this has given him as he heads onto the big stage for the first time.

God rest Alf Garnett and Prince Phil.

'Through the menu at the bottom of the screen you can also sort by the latest news from the important federations ( PDC, WDF and MAD) in the sport'

I wouldn't consider MAD an important federation.

Not yet  We anticipated on a great success. We give them a chance. They are not very lucky with starting something new in the middle of the Corona period.

Berry van Peer is making his return to the PDC Pro Tour circuit this season after a three-year absence. ‘Bionic’ earned a PDC Tour Card for 2021 and 2022 after a couple of good results on the Development Tour.

Van Peer won the first of ten Development Tour events last year, but laid the foundation for his third place on the Development Tour Order of Merit during the final weekend in September. He reached four Semi-Finals on the spin, putting him ahead of fellow countryman Damian Mol. Because number one Ryan Meikle has a Tour Card already, a third place was enough for Van Peer.

But then they wouldn't be able to say "Wayne has held the World title belt undisputed now for three years"

Painter spoke to DartsNews.com after his retirement to discuss the reasoning for his decision in more depth.

With the 2011 Players Championship Finals champion admitting that the prospect of the Challenge Tour after Q-School didn’t excite him which is when he decided to call it a day.

“When I went to Q-School, I had every intention of getting a Tour Card and going on the ProTour but as things didn’t work out, I’ve been thinking about it for a bit anyway,” said Painter to DartsNews.com.

“I thought I’d give it one more go and if it didn’t work out, I’d probably call it a day.
