Michael van Gerwen showed at the end of November that he is getting back to his best just in time for the World Championship, where he hopes to win his fourth world title.
Van Gerwen came closer and closer to his old form in the autumn, but was beaten by an excellent opponent (twice Simon Whitlock and once Ian White) during the World Grand Prix, European Championship and Grand Slam of Darts. The puzzle pieces fell together at the Players Championship Finals, as he claimed his first major title since March.

An estimation of Van Gerwens bid for glory, 9/4 on the table, I would advise to take it now as it will be risky leaving it until later on.

Kim Huybrechts is one of the three Belgians who will appear at the PDC World Darts Championship next week. Dartsnews.com gauged his expectations.
For Huybrechts this is already the tenth consecutive World Championship in which he participates.
“Whether it's my first tournament or my 100th, I am always quite nervous. During the matches, it is usually not too bad, but when it goes all the way to the end, everyone has that adrenaline I think."

Berry van Peer is making his return to the PDC Pro Tour circuit this season after a three-year absence. ‘Bionic’ earned a PDC Tour Card for 2021 and 2022 after a couple of good results on the Development Tour.
Van Peer won the first of ten Development Tour events last year, but laid the foundation for his third place on the Development Tour Order of Merit during the final weekend in September. He reached four Semi-Finals on the spin, putting him ahead of fellow countryman Damian Mol. Because number one Ryan Meikle has a Tour Card already, a third place was enough for Van Peer.

“I thought I’d give it one more go and if it didn’t work out, I’d probably call it a day.
