Has it been confirmed anywhere that the 2018 World Masters champion will be selected rather than another player from the rankings instead of Ratajski? Imo the 2018 champion makes sense

I don't think anyone could see anything apart from a Anderson whitewash the form he is in.

Great news.

Then Parletti does not care about money from the PDC. if he needs it he can just beg for it again

Wasn't there fallout between them because they had the 'Men in black' gig going for exbo's and then Anderson didn't inform Robson of his switch? Or something along those lines I seem to remember.

So Ian White’s win moves him up one place above Max Hopp to #12 in ranking. Replacing his top of the non qualified Pro Tour winners with top of ET winners on the reserve list.

Must almost certainly guarantee him the GSOD place, as would need to get outsiders in final at Grand Prix, and 1 or 2 out of Chisnall, Whitlock or Guerney to get to Champions League final or an outsider at the World Series final.

Good to hear. Will be a good edition to the GSOD.

Utterly crap already we have a winner in aspinall that will not qualify and probably more before the end and yet we will have 8 random qualifiers for what was supposed to be a champion of champions type event.

You will never be able to fill this event with champions.

If we keep the 8 BDO qualifiers for now ( can’t see that lasting to many more years)

Then all winners and runners up of tv events.

All winners of Euro tour and players champs.

That will get you close to 24 most years then. Top player from regional tours (tour winners) so Asian tour, DPA, Russian one, Scandinavia, North America.

Then I’d be very suprised if your not on 24 players but if your not then you can hold a qualifier for the remaining places. No reason that wouldn’t work and before some idiot comes out with it can’t be a ranked event that is rubbish the players have qualified by right more so than the 8 random qualifiers.

Shouldn't be ranked anyway - cross-code event and includes winners or runners-up from non-ranked and exhibition events. Agree that qualifiers aren't necessary, certainly not 8!

The best thing to do is include everyone who has won a Pro tour/Euro tour event. If their's no qualifiers then so be it

Yep 6 players missed out last year via this and they would have been much better than the qualifiers.

GERWYN PRICE'S maiden European Tour title has seen him join the provisional qualifiers for the bwin Grand Slam of Darts.

The former UK Open finalist won the International Darts Open in Riesa on Sunday with an 8-3 defeat of Simon Whitlock in the final to provisionally secure a spot in Wolverhampton.

The prestigious event will take place from November 10-18 at the Aldersley Leisure Village as the traditional Wolverhampton Civic Hall venue undergoes refurbishment.

In honour of late darts legend Eric Bristow MBE, this year's event will see the 32 players competing for the Eric Bristow Trophy for the first time.

Reigning Grand Slam champion Michael van Gerwen is joined by World Champion Rob Cross, World Matchplay champion Gary Anderson and Blackpool runner-up Mensur Suljovic in confirmed places in the field.

World Youth Champion Dimitri van den Bergh, World Cup winner Raymond van Barneveld and TV finalists Peter Wright, Michael Smith, Josh Payne, Corey Cadby and Jonny Clayton are also set to compete in Wolverhampton.

First-time European Tour winners Price and Ian White are among the players to have secured a provisional place in the field.

PDC players can still qualify for the event at the Champions League, World Grand Prix, European Championship and World Series of Darts Finals in the coming months.

The BDO players will be confirmed shortly.

Qualifying Players: (invited in the following order up to a maximum of 16 players)
2017/18 PDC World Champion; ROB CROSS - 1

2018 Champions League runner-up;
2018 World Series of Darts Finals runner-up;
2018 World Cup runners-up (2 players with highest individual taking preference if only one spot available) (Peter Wright & Gary Anderson)

This list can produce a maximum of 28 players. If it produces more than 16 players, they shall be taken in order as listed above and no further players shall qualify automatically.

If it produces fewer than 16 places then additional places shall be filled from the reserve list in the following order:

2018 European Tour winners (in Order of Merit order at Nov 5) (Michael van Gerwen), (Mensur Suljovic), (Jonny Clayton), IAN WHITE, GERWYN PRICE, MAX HOPP

2018 Players Championship winners (in Order of Merit order at Nov 5) (Michael van Gerwen), (Peter Wright), (Rob Cross) (Gary Anderson), (Michael Smith), (Ian White), (Gerwyn Price), MERVYN KING, JEFFREY DE ZWAAN, (Josh Payne), MICKEY MANSELL, NATHAN ASPINALL

2018 UK Open Qualifier winners (in Order of Merit order at Nov 5) (Michael van Gerwen), (Gary Anderson) (Michael Smith), (Corey Cadby), KRZYSZTOF RATAJSKI

Players shall be separated within the reserve list first by the number of Events in each category they have won and then by their position in the PDC main Order of Merit on the cut-off date.

Once 16 players are reached from the above criteria then the remaining 16 places shall be filled with eight players from a PDC Full Member qualifier and eight players from the BDO system.

The 24 competing PDC players shall be ordered in three pots of eight players each, determined in Order of Merit order after the Grand Slam qualifier.

The top eight ranked PDC players on the main Order of Merit at the cut-off date shall be seeded as per the bracket order in groups A – H with the remaining 16 players placed in main Order of Merit order in to the two remaining pots.

The eight BDO qualifiers shall be drawn randomly, one placed in each group.
