6-2!

Crowd against MvG but he holds his nerve.

man, if Smith had hit that bull for a 170 who knows how the game may have turned.

Fair point above by Zapp as well.

Yeah, as above, I'm not keen on Smith either tbh - not the negativity like before but he seems to have a bit of a mouthy attitude these days and he comes across as incredibly cocky for someone who's never done anything much in the game.

The annoying thing with this game is MVG is beatable here, averaging 102 and only 40% on doubles

An on form Anderson will have beaten him tonight, You'd argue Aspinal with the way he played would give a better game.

Smith has completely fallen apart tonight.

Great sportsman ship from Smith there, as MVG throwing for the double & the crowd booing. He was trying to quieten them down.

Smith missed a finish 3 times to win a set that MVG won. 22 Darts missed at doubles, 24% checkout

Dont agree with what Smith said that it should have been 5-0 but it certainly should have been 3-2 Smith which would have calmed them both down.

Not a classic by any means, decent enough but no more.

Overall been a cracking 3 weeks.

Big upsets, the old names stepping aside, new kids on the block, the added names worked imo and a final for the first time in nearly 40 years where both players were under 30.

And the best player won.

Various things on tonight:
- 35 or more 180s @ 5/1 (WH)
- Both to have 15 or more 180s @ 13/8 (Betfair)
- Both to average 100 or more and have at least 12 180s each @ 6/4 (Hills)

Also done a complicated ton plus checkouts arb between Hills and Spreadex but too complicated to explain here.
Hope you haven't put too much on - could be an expensive night!
You missed the last line of my post ;)
Ah, so you've got an insurance bet - very wise :)
About £700 up thanks to Spreadex and Hills ovepricing the ton plus finishes. A very good night.

Even game, MVG's timing was better, when it was 6-2 it should have been 4-4 without crucial missed doubles at crucial times. Smith dug in well but in my opinion the major difference was the T19 hitting - van Gerwen far more accurate on the bottom half of the board.

Far too complicated to explain it, I've had a lovely evening, alas not with those three. £815 up on the night I think, need to run the final figures yet.

Feeling fabulous. And it's not even a Monday!

At least Ginge had a good night. I watched the first half on my phone, last half just live scores, driving back from the beach. Not an impressive final, but well deserved win for the best player of the tournament. Were some really great games in this championship, but the final wasn't one of them.
