<snipped some other stuff>
So are you saying because there are players who are at the top who are older this means younger players won’t be excelling at a young age?? Surely age isn’t a barrier??

But perhaps what you’re trying to say is as players developer younger these days because of all the tours available, etc then it means perhaps in 10-15 years we could have say 70-80% of the world top 16 all being 25 or younger and some already being major winners??
I mean that the improved youth development means that the players will plateau sooner and, if they have the talent, will be able to reach the top 16 sooner.

But darts allows for a long career, and players have to be better then the existing players to replace them. So, we should still see a spread of ages.

I think that if the top 16 gets substantially younger it'd be a temporary thing caused by an increased talent pool, but then it'd go back to the normal age spread.

Back to BDO (it is a BDO thread after all), I think the age spread in the BDO is to be expected. It's a 2nd tier, with a lower average standard of play, and the spread is a bit wider, with more young players and more aging veterans. Even though it seems like the BDO will be skipped by more young talent, I think that there will always be a surplus of young players and the BDO will continue to have the bigger spread. If anything, with the overall growth of the game, unless the PDC keeps growing the main tour, the BDO will end up benefiting from increased depth.

Jesus Christ who gives a shit about the ages anyway. Surely that’s one of the great aspects of darts that you can have a 20 year old playing a 60 year old and for all we know they could both be at their peak of their careers at that point.

Just wondering if this event was confirmed for 2019? Looking at the BDO calender it seems to have a new name but there isn’t a single event marked up as part of the qualification
