Darts world magazine

Post by Zapp Brannigan » Tue Apr 09, 2019 6:43 am

Just seen on bdof that someone has not got the latest magazine and the phone number to ring is dead.

Looking at their website nothing on the website, twitter or Facebook has been updated since January.

Looks like it’s going under after all these years

Just as an aside, see the new Dartsplanet.tv magazine is getting some great reviews on Twitter. Only been going for 2 issues, but sold out both times.

Would have been nice for them to have issued a statement saying as much.

well the question on real fanatics was posted last night at 11.00.

Only 1 reply from yours truly saying "no reply?".

If it has gone bust it seems like no one on fanatics is bothered.

If the target market for the magazing i.e. fanatics aren't bothered then we have the reason why the magazine has finished (possibly).

To be fair I don't think I have read a copy since the early 90's and I can't honestly recall the last time I saw a copy in a newsagent.
Shame if its gone as it really is a part of darting history.

Tough to run these days magazines even with a niche interest.
Advertisers hard to come by. And then you can't afford anyone to put in the content.
Even if you go fully digital and reduce printing costs hard to make a profit or break even when everything is available online.

Plus the likes of WH SMITH in particular are a disgrace to small publishers with their charges to have the magazine on their shelves.. only the major publishers can afford that now and the smaller independents have no chance...

I have ordered the 2nd issue of Dartsplanet. P&P 2 times the cost of the mag :)

Is the German PDC mag still going. Anyone know?

There is something comforting about opening and reading a physical magazine rather than a digital copy, it's just a big shame that the production and distribution costs are so big.

Same with books, missus obsessed with kindle downloads. I am a dinosaur whovstill orders the actual book. Dont feel like I really own a copy unless I can physically hold it. Same with music cd's.
Thinking of one.

I went through a phase of kindle books but I'm back on proper books now though... but I can't say I've bought a CD for years though... Spotify all day for music for me..

Still buying cds (last 2: flamin groovies & Adam Ant - "friend or foe" in prep for a tour this year). Still playing them: cock sparrow are blasting out now.

never used kindle. Bought and reading Jah Wobble bio this last week.

And love physical copies of magazines. Subscribed to darts world and also the ill fated darts monthly/we love darts.

Did it cost you £7.50 or the equivalent in euros?

I tried to buy darts planet 2 but couldn't do it on my phone. Added to basket and that was it. Should have done it on pc at office.

Surely darts needs a good magazine? But then again, can't seem to find snooker scene anywhere!

I had the same problem. Worked ok on the laptop.
