European Tour 2021
European Tour 2021
With restrictions relaxing do we think something will be announced shortly for the European tour. Maybe a limited number of events in the autumn.
Re: European Tour 2021
The CEO of PDC Europe has done a number of interviews this year and last where he said they cam only afford to stage the events when they can have a full crowd in the venues. The ticket revenue is needed to cover the prize fund as they aren’t subsidised by the PDC and being streamed rather than on TV there’s very little money from that.
Guess then it depends in particular when Germany allow large crowds at indoor sports events.
They could though do the one in Gibraltar as that’s a green country so no Covid restrictions for local and British visitors plus the costs are covered by the local Government to promote the place.

I guess we will have to see how much of an impact the vindaflu has.
Re: European Tour 2021
The Gobraltar government IIRC also subsidises that one so ticket sales have never been the driving factor - fortunately.
Re: European Tour 2021
Dont understand why the PDC has organised so little tournaments in the UK before the summer. Only 4 PC-events and the Premier League during these months.

Re: European Tour 2021
Perhaps there was an epidemic of some sort and a nationwide lockdown which made organising events like this logistically much more difficult than usual?
Re: European Tour 2021
Joh. But only 16 PC events before the summer. One would expect they would compensate it with extra floor tournaments. Especially when you see how top heavy the second part of the year will be with tv tourneys etcDavidOwen67 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 9:48 amPerhaps there was an epidemic of some sort and a nationwide lockdown which made organising events like this logistically much more difficult than usual?

Re: European Tour 2021
Floor tournaments bring in no revenue, but do pay out hefty prize money. Until the revenue starts flowing again with ticketed/TV events, expect the floor events to be fairly minimal.Bram_1900 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 9:51 amJoh. But only 16 PC events before the summer. Re: European Tour 2021
apart from the world championship, the masters, the uk open and 17 nights of premier league and a dozen players championships all held in the uk in the first half of this year plus another 4 players championship events held in europe with over 5 million quid in prize money, they have done fuck all really - if Clayton had also won the worlds and uk open he would barely have collected a million or so on his own
all despite the no crowds
could be worse

They're 4 PCs behind normal, having lost the first 2 weeks of the season to the month's delay of Q SchoolDavidOwen67 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 10:07 amFloor tournaments bring in no revenue, but do pay out hefty prize money. They'll have 4 each in June and July, instead of 2 and 2 so they'll be caught up by the end of July.
The PCs will probably be the normal amount, but with no World Series of Darts, it does open up some space in August if they want to add a series.
Re: European Tour 2021
They can surely do the European WSOD events ?1205 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 5:26 pmThey're 4 PCs behind normal, having lost the first 2 weeks of the season to the month's delay of Q SchoolDavidOwen67 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 10:07 amFloor tournaments bring in no revenue, but do pay out hefty prize money. There’s the one they have been doing in Germany in recent years plus there’s the new one in Copenhagen replacing a ET event which should have started last year. That’s in the PDC calendar.
No way will they be going to Australia and NZ with their entry restrictions.
Could add another WSOD event in somewhere like Austria but they may focus on getting ETs back on as that benefits more players plus they need at least a handful to get a meaningful OOM for the European Championship.
Re: European Tour 2021
maybe bram noticed mvg has won fuck all this year and thought there must have been no tournaments, rather than the twelvety-hundred there have been and that mvg is more finished than a ham sandwich in ethiopia
