England Darts forced to find a new venue

Post by oche balboa »

Sadly after 14 years, the new owners of Bunn Leisure, Cove Communities have made the decision that they will not associate their site with any sporting events. This came out of the blue and a shock to us.

I received this news in a very matter a fact two minute phone call, I would have thought after 14 years we would have had an official communication from them, and that is the reason we have not reported this to you, however nothing has been sent to us, or no prior notification that this was their companies future policy.

I would like to place on record our sincere thanks to the previous management of Bunn Leisure, Neil, Pete Treagust, Ian, Steph and the entire bar staff, the support staff, in fact everyone over the years who have made us all feel like part of their family, it is without doubt the most rewarding partnership I have had the pleasure of being part of in my whole darting career.

Whilst it is a big setback to England Darts following on from the Pandemic, nevertheless we have to source an alternative venue for our Open next June, an event which we will definitely stage, hopefully as a Gold but definitely as a Silver Weekend.

Please just give us some time, to investigate the future possibilities to continue with this iconic event in the WDF calendar for 2022 and onwards.

Yes, in August 2019. Why let them run the event last month if they didnt want pissed up darts players around? Image

Presume they booked in 2019 for 2020 and Covid pushed that back to 2021.
If they had agreed a contract they probably couldn’t rip it up saying darts doesn’t fit their image of a family friendly holiday village.

Aye maybe.

Never mind, now they can find a more central venue.

Likely Cove Communities wouldn't provide any sponsorship at all. They're a relatively new company that's buying up RV/trailer/caravan parks all over the place. They've seen the opportunity to squeeze more money out of people with nowhere cheaper to go.

They will just cite the time they held an event at the Ricoh and the turn out was poor.

Nine years ago.

Aye Butlins is a total shithole. Any darts org would be mad to hold an event there.

"Following detailed advice MAD have made the difficult decision to postpone the '2021 Winmau European Open' until early 2022"

That was on the 27th September - two weeks after the EDO event at Selsey. Hmm.

When Tommy was trying his coup over county darts with Trination darts him and a couple of his lapdogs were highly abusive to concerned persons on Facebook who were asking them probing legitimate questions on Facebook about their chequered history and future plans.

Those abusive comments and other information relating to the running of England darts and its officials were then subsequently reported to Bunn Leisure who now after conducting their own investigation have obviously decided to take the correct course of action.

I am hoping to qualify for the final of this tournament by winning my semi final. That of course is if I qualify for the semi final by winning my quarter final qualifier. And so on.
