There are 6 Irish regulars for the English Players events - Mick McGowan, Brendan Dolan, William O'Connor, John Magowan, Jim McKevitt and Aodhagan O'Neill - attendance is at considerable extra travel expense. So whoever wins the 4 places this year will certainly have earned them.

Take the word 'certainly' out and add 'in my opinion' and you will have a reasonable post.

Mind you, I wouldn't call any of the above 'regulars', except for Brendan Dolan and Jim Mckevitt, and the odds against the latter being able to qualify would be long if there were 32 Irish players in the Grand Prix.

But you didn't answer my question: what would be the point of any of those players flying out to Canada when they get a spot in the Grand Prix for nothing? Then again, if they fly halfway around the world from Ireland to Britain then why not Canada?

i would say 5 of the 6 are pretty regular on the circuit...Dolan, Mick Mcgowan and John Magowan have been for a while...Jim McKevitt is this year and since joining the PDC William O'Connor is as well ( and a great addition as well).....so that's not bad going week in week out
Having said that i think 2 Irish spots for the WGP is fairer than 4 and i think it is happrning next year and that is fair enough

No particular Irish player gets a WGP spot for nothing, so if Mick, John and Aodhagan attended it would have given them the chance of sealing their spot. Brendan is also in with a shout of a Players Championship final spot, being in 37th place currently, so some Canadian money would have been useful.

it feels like it's getting serious now.. JP and Maishy (and others!) now fighting for every £.. I really hope as many forum players can make the worlds as possible now, as it really adds that bit of spice when watching and cheering on :)
